Quoted: what was his first band? mudcrutch?? Nope - his first band was called the Sundowners, which later changed to the Epics. The Epics later evolved into Mudcrutch in 1970. Mudcrutch disbanded and Petty reunited with two of the members to form the band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. |

He had a band named Mudchruch. Now if you want a good story. When I was in HS, I went to see The WHO when they had their "Tommy," tour. The opening band for them at Merriweather Post Pavilion was a new un-known band. They were called: Led Zeppelin. |

I remember when they were a new band! ![]() Me too, and I wondered how long they could last with a screeching, Bob Dylanesque lead singer. |
