OK, I have DSL through a local provider. When I signed up with them, the modem came in a box from At&t. I may start getting my DSL strait from at&t, because I plan on cuting my home phone and getting a cell phone.

Can I use my modem that I already have? I know they charge about $50 for a new modem. Also, they charge like $200 for a tech to install it. Another thing is, I would rather stay with my current provider, but they told me I would lose my DSL when I cut the phone line. The same service will cost about $10-$15 more a month by switching to At+t 's DSL without a homephone service.

Does my current DSL provider know what they are talking about? Maybe I should just cut the phone and see what happens.
