So I was one of the lucky members who had the opportunity to try out a Decked Storage system. Here was the original thread if your interested: http://www.f150forum.com/f38/help-us...system-328403/

My truck was overran with gear. I use my truck for my business along with carrying my gear for my main job, and in the summertime, I carry even more gear for another job. My back seat has been folded up since the day I bought it as the cab was the only place to store all of my gear securely. When I have an extra passenger we had to move all the gear into the bed just so they had a spot. Not the most convenient.

I thought about doing an install write up but there was so many good videos on youtube I figured it would be a waste of time. Decked along with some other individuals did an excellent job with those videos. I used this one during my install:

DECKED System Installation Tutorial -

The install took me about 3 hours. That was with lots of coffee breaks and breaks to play with the dog. I feel confident that if I had to install another I could easily cut that time in half, especially if I had help that was more than the 4 legged kind.

The install was SUPER simple as the instructions are very well written. Everything is labeled and individually bagged per step so it's easy follow. It really does make confusion very minimal. The two toughest parts were installing the wheels and the handle springs. If you watch the video it helps explain how to do these steps. Fit and finish is top notch. The overall construction is quite rugged. The plastic is very stout and seems like it can take some good abuse. I like how they utilized the the corners and made the “ammo cans” as extra storage instead of leaving it as dead space. They did their homework when they developed these.

The drawers are full length of the unit but only pull out about 70% of the way. Which is not ideal but I see why they did that. There would be too much stress on the system if they pulled out all the way. There is also a brace that goes across the top of the drawer towards the back that makes it a little difficult to access any gear that's located towards at the end of the drawer. Again not ideal but a necessary for strength. The brace itself is just a formed/stamped steel that is open on the bottom. Those edges are a little sharp, and while I was putting a wooden handled tool in the drawer, it pealed some of the wood as they made contact. I may end up taking them off and filing down the edge. I ended up flipping it upside down so the smooth edge faced down. It might be worth switching to a piece of round stock in future braces to eliminate this issue. Or maybe decked can experiment with a piece of round stock that attaches to the same spots but hugs the curves of the drawer. I am also interested to see how well that little screw holds up over time. The one that holds the bracket on. If repeated use will cause it to back out and enlarge the hole. Maybe it should be drilled all the way through and a bolt installed? Just a few things to think about...

My only other concern is dust. With all the dirt roads we have the items in the bed inevitably end up covered in dust. I may end up installing a tailgate seal to help combat this issue.

With all my gear into the boxes and I have a ton of room left (as you can see from the pics). I didn't even utilize the ammo can space. I may move some of the oil or other items that can leak into them. Most importantly I gained my back seat back!!!! Pretty crazy to open the door and see the seat down.

I am also interested in seeing if the unit will rub through the bed paint. I suppose I could have kept the bed mat in place but I decided it was not needed. Only time will tell but I honestly don't think any damage is going to happen.

Overall this is a extremely well made unit. Its light weight, utilizes all available space and allows you to still utilize the bed. I will be loading it up with more gear over the summer and changing the layout for sure as things change. I plan on buying the drawer drains and the locks. I want to try out the beverage cooler capabilities of the drawers and the extra security of locks will be nice.

Again I am super happy to be one of the lucky testers and I can't wait to see how it hold up!

Here are some pics!

The Bracket in question:

Back of the cab is all clean! And I can use the seats again!! Woot woot! And, my buddy can ride back there all by himself! No more gear a lanches on him.

kinda neat, like the storage decks I've seen built for some trucks.  So how much weight can you put on top of them?

Fuck those guys. They have been promising for two years that a Tacoma option would be available soon, and still nothing.

Seems like a bed space robbing system that could be accomplished by a big tool rolling tool box that you can either mount into the bed or remove it when you don't need it.

With that said if I planned on using it in conjunction with a camper shell and putting a mattress on top of it, to use for a quick hunt camper, I'd be all over it.

Every tool has its strong and weak points. If you need bed space then probably not the best. If you need storage then it's great.

Easy fellas!  We are keenly aware of demand for Tacoma and are working on it presently.  Understand, we are a small American made product company that has been in business for two years.  Our vehicle decisions as to what are going to make or not make are not based on personal preference, but on market size and opportunity.  It's extremely expensive to tool up for a new vehicle series.  But, we have recognized mid-size as valid all along and are going through the process right now to have something in the next 9-12 months.

Thank you!
