First let me say I been reloading for 30yrs

OK be it a rifle or pistol. If I wanted to reload the quietest slowest load for 25-30yd target shooting. Which type of powder is safer? A slower or faster burning rate powder. I'm guessing faster but have heard of pistols blowing up with ultra low charges of powder(Bullseye). Dont some subsonic rifles use pistol powders when shooting heavy bullets? Been messing around with Gree Dot since it is a medium burnning power and went as low as 2.3grns in my pistol but wonder if it's safer to go lower? What say thwe hive?

A slower powder will give you more margin for error. However, I like fast powders with heavy bullets.

9mm load is 147gr plated or moly with 3.5gr of VV N320.
45 load is 230gr plated with 4 gr of Ramshot Comp.

Yes. Sub rifle load will typically use a slower handgun powder. Lil' gun and the like.

A chronograph would be your friend here. Can you borrow one?
I've been reloading for over 40 years and have heard about powder detonation all this time. I don't really believe in the concept. The physics and internal ballistics just don't work.
That said, I think you want the greatest volume of powder in the case to get what you want in terms of velocity, so whichever powder giver the most volume is the one you want.
I think "detonations" come from double or perhaps even triple charges of very low volume loads.

ETA: Many investigators have tried to cause a detonation with low powder charges without success. It's the Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot of reloading

Contact the powder manufacturers. They all want repeat customers, and definitely don't want injuries to you or your firearm!

Heavy Bullets + Fast Powder = Soft Round

For soft pistol rounds I use shotgun powders (the fastest burning powders).

Yes and what you said does make sense. I do see more KB's wiht double charges than with squib loads.

This. My cowboy loads are .38s with 158gr TC and Trailboss. You will never double a charge, damn stuff will overflow the case first. The wife loves shooting them too. Very easy on recoil.

You need to spend some time here.

And see how they use COW on reduced loads.
