I've been sniping from CD's, game CD's and where ever else I can find the sounds I want. I tried downloading conversion freeware but they wont do what they were advertized to do-rite now I dont give a rats about reauthoring DVD's, great to have-but not the reason I DL it.

I need to convert these files from .flv , .avi , wmv extensions to an IPOD format & a format that is compatible with modern CD-R/DVD-R so I can play them back.

I've read the reviews the on QuickTime Pro & seems like people are mad because Apple is making you buy certain features on top of the QT Pro upgrade.  I don't have much knowledge about the Microsoft version included on stock computers except I've been thru it many times looking for features that people say come with the software on the OS disc, some people have said that the standard version will convert any video file you have to whatever you want I haven't found that to be the case.  Even another IPOD user told me to start up the .exe and Itunes should convert it from .flv to .mp3 nope!  Flash videos are the one thing that this is an abundance of, if I like it I want it.

I'm not partial to any one make of software, I just dont want to post about it here in 2 weeks all pissed off over the selection and have someone here point out that another software is better.

Check out sourceforge.

Things like ffmpeg might do it.

Winamp will do it as well.  There is a walk through someone in the intertube.

Have a look at dBpoweramp. I used to use it for converting music files, though I don't know how well it does with .flv or if it even supports it. Sorry I can't help more.
