I think this may be one of the best covers I have ever heard.

That cover is inferior to the original, and that video is cartoonishly bad in the way the band members are shown paying instruments that aren't even present in the track.

You sir, do not seem to like any cover songs

I usually don't either, unless I grew up listening to the cover and not knowing what the original was.

It just happens to be that this thread started off with two covers I really hate.

I don't have a problem with covers as long as they're well executed.

Jimi Hendrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower and Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt come to mind.

Hendrix' cover of All Along the Watchtower is amazing.  I will call the end of the thread now.

ETA:  shit. Bassgasm already mentioned it.

Here, have a Hendrix-inspired consolation prize:

My favorite is SRV "Little Wing".

I guess you can have a consolation prize, too.

I take it you're into classic rock?

Only since shortly after birth. But back then it was just the music of the times.

eta:  No solo in Shinedown cover of simple man?  Could have thrown in some slide or steel.  Fucking embarrassing without it.

The Tool cover?

I don't think that's even on the top 10 list of most posted covers.

Dude.. HELL NO.. nobody can cover Queen.. especially if they try to keep the song similar in style.. Queen and Freddie are way out of their league..

To successfully cover something that cannot be done any better in its own genre you would have to cover it in another genre...

Here is a band that knows how to pull off a good cover

Excellent cover and I'm a huge LZ fan.

Most people post Hendrix "All Along The Watchtower" which is good but I much prefer his cover of "Like a Rolling Stone." Homage to Dylan.

Most often posted on this site is Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt." I like it but I still think Nine Inch Nail's is better for what it is.
