Drunk, No. Asleep, Possibly.

While posting on ARFCOM, definitely.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:43:51 PM EST
Im sure I could, right up till I destroyed something or killed someone.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:44:25 PM EST
That would be pretty much a terrible idea.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:44:31 PM EST
I don't think so, but sometimes I think a light buzz would eliminate the headache at the end of the day.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:45:20 PM EST
no, it wouldn't be possible at all
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:45:24 PM EST
I could easily. Right up to the point where I get fired.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:45:36 PM EST
Easily. I have a number of times in the past. My job REALLY isn't that hard.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:45:41 PM EST
I am the SO for a local indoor range. I don't think so.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:45:55 PM EST
No way in hell, I would definatly loose some digits.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:46:04 PM EST
GO to law school?

Hell yes.

IBTUB/IBTGMB

In Before The Union Bashers/In Before the GM Bashers

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a good idea for me to go to work after a couple.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:46:42 PM EST
Occasionally the boss takes me to lunch and we drink a few.... or more.

He thinks I can do my job drunk so so do I.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:47:34 PM EST
I work for a tree trimming/removing company. I basically climb trees for a living.

Drinking on the job could be deadly.

I wait 'til I get home.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:48:25 PM EST
Full Time-I sell Guns.
Yes I could! I'm sure I'd handle firearms with more respect/responsibility than 98%
of my customers.

Part Time-Bartender.
I NEED to drink in order to fulfill my sworn duties.

Soon to Be-LEO.
Hell no. I believe I'd need to be pretty gottdamn sharp on tha job.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:52:22 PM EST
I'd hate to think about having to do my job sober!

Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:52:26 PM EST
No.

Power tools and alcohol don't mix.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:52:45 PM EST
I'm a nurse.

Yeah I could do it drunk but there's no way the coworkers or even the patients would not be able to smell it.

Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:52:46 PM EST
No. It would be terrible.

No.

I'm paid for accuracy and completeness.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 1:54:38 PM EST
I have when working from home, and it's about as dangerous as me posting this right now.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:08:35 PM EST
NO!
Driving/climbing on roofs
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:16:44 PM EST
school buses and booze don't mix. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if kids got hurt because I was drunk.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:19:39 PM EST
Kinda hard to put together an accurate estimate when your seeing two of everything on the prints.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:20:44 PM EST
Not really.

One time I took a new person to lunch (hoping to win schmoozing points) and she insisted that I drink something with her. She had wine so I ordered the smallest glass of beer I could find. It didn't really affect me too much, but I still felt bad for having had a drink on the job.

Double the money!!!!111!one!

I think your boss would be proud.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:21:41 PM EST
Probably not, I have to answer phones and transfer calls and I don't think I'd be able to do that passably.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:21:55 PM EST
Answer the phone drunk? Sure.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:23:10 PM EST
yup. The most I ever have to deal with is 600 amps. but its only DC so as long as the tools are insulated good its safe.

I dont really like being up on rolling ladders though. I do tend to drop more tools, but they never fall in a bad place.

The day I can't do my job drunk is the day I turn in my gun and badge.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:28:06 PM EST
I'm a manager. It would probably improve my performance
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:29:21 PM EST
I could, but I dare not!

I fix airplanes for a living, and they fly over homes and businesses.

I don't want to see one of my planes on the 5 O'colck news because I could'nt wait for that drink.

Barney Fife?
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:43:17 PM EST
Could I? Probably. However I'd probably lose a digit, perhaps even a hand. And more than likely lay a wrecking to a 3/4 million dollar machine.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:44:43 PM EST
No way in hell.......................

I'm an IT guy. Troubleshooting is a lot more entertaining when you're hammered. Oddly enough I had the opportunity to do such things when I was in the Navy. The other netadmin was on leave and out of state... I was drunk off my ass on the weekend but not on duty... Chief had to come get me. Yeah, fun times
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:51:13 PM EST
There is only ONE job that can be done effectively ... nay, MORE EFFECTIVELY, while drunk.

Sales.

Damn, those bastages is good.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:52:28 PM EST
No
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 2:58:49 PM EST
No because I might spill my drink.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 3:03:38 PM EST
I can't do my job drunk, but when I was in college you'd have to be high to right some of the programming code we came up with.
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 3:03:42 PM EST
Part of my job is packing parachutes. Could I do it drunk? Probably.

The question is, would you want me to?
Link Posted: 10/8/2007 3:06:45 PM EST
I teach Freshmen and Seniors in high school... social studies, of course.

The Freshmen I could teach with a buzz, the Seniors would call me out on it.
