Costco is a little nicer than Sam's - their wine selection is a little better, and some of their stuff seems to be a little higher quality.  I believe their strategy is to try to differentiate themselves by being slightly more up-scale, but the difference is subtle.

So I'd definitely pick Costco over Sam's, but - since there are two Sam's reasonably close to me, and both Costco's in town are hell and gone from my house, I have a Sam's membership instead.

to be honest we have both.  We get different items from each of them.  Both are with in 3 miles of the house.

Baby formula = Costco

Diapers = Sam's

Baby wipes = Costco

Tortilla chips = Sam's

Hamburger = Sam's

gas = both

Cheese = costco

bottled water = Costco.

ect...

Costco has a "no CCW" corporate policy. I've exchanged letters with them about it. I don't go there any longer.

I would go with Costco because I find my local Sam's Club's prices are approximately the same as the local Wall-Mart, and many of them are not any cheaper than what I can find at the local supermarket or Target. Plus to boot, Sam's make you buy an enormous of it, heaping insult on top of injury.

The staff at most Sam's Clubs are slower than a short bus on Prozac.

In the true fashion of AR-15.com....Get both.

Sams does seem to be more gun friendly.

Costco is cheaper on some items.

It depends on what store caters to you.  However, one store will carry something the other won't, and vice versa.

Wal-Mart already has enough money. Go Costco and get hella good deals on gas too. Hehe, hella. Does anybody still use that word?

Only Cartman on SP.  God, I love that show.

We go to Sam's.  I like the fact that I can buy a lot of house hold goods and not have to go to the store quite as often.

I don't do too well with the general public.  Friggen' mouth breathers...

Costco donated all their political capital to sKerry, and is very anti-CCW.  Vote with your wallet and show the amoralistic boobs that we do remember.

Buying at Costco is supporting people that want to take away your gun rights... buying at Sams is not.

Make your choice support a company that hates gun owners or one that does not.

Yeah - like that guy who insists on stopping me at the door, but then just PRETENDS to check all the stuff in my cart.  He deserves a good 'ol draw-down!

Sam's because the Costco is in a shopping center here and the traffic pattern sucks.  I've seen cars rolled in the parking lot. In addition, their CCW policy and they only take American Express.  I had a major issue with AmEx and will not carry the card if they paid me.  Sam's takes my Discover that I use for everything for the cash back bonus.

Sam's Club.  I also have a membership with BJ's Wholesale.  I am a former COSTCO member.  They can FOAD!

BTW, do you know what COSTCO is?  China Overseas Trading Company.
