I'm not the most computer savvy person on the block and this issue has me confounded.  One of my coworkers had to fill in for me here recently and since then my computer has been giving me fits.  As I begin to type, it'll let me type a few characters than just starts beeping at me and I have to go re-set the cursor in the field before I can continue typing.  Same thing with the mouse, I can only scroll so far before it just quits working and I have to reset it before I can continue scrolling.  What gives?  I've never known a computer to do this before.  Help!

Sounds like it has been possessed by the spirit of "Elvis!"  Just put in a cd of his greatest hits and all shall return to normal.
O.K.  I'm not a computer geek, but I'm sure this will help bump it to someone that is!!

shut down the pc completely. make sure you do this first.
check to see if the keyboard and mouse are fully seated, reseat them if necessary.  turn pc back on.
they might have been kicked loose if the pc is on the floor.

beeping normally means bad keyboard (somthing spilled on it) or contacts barely touching.

Erm... have you done a full virus and spyware scan?

It sounds like something in the background is activating and trying to grab the focus of the mouse and keyboard.

The other possibility is if you are using a wireless keyboard and mouse, the batteries need to be replaced.

Okay guys, thanks for the suggestions.  I ran virus and spyware scans, turned up nothing.  Shut down, checked connections, restarted.  Made sure Sticky keys turned off.  All to no avail.

Oh well.  Thanks anyway, I do appreciate it.
