Need a cheap dual monitor solution for a work project/ design related.
I have my work laptop, and extra monitor. What else do I need to make this function. Needs to be cheap |

As long as your video card can support 2 monitors, all you need is the right cable from your laptop to the monitor. Depends on what your laptop has?
VGA USB-C Display port Mini display Etc. You might be able to use a usb to ? depending on what input the monitor has. |

Do you know what kind of USB ports you have? 2.0 or 3.0 (Superspeed)?
My laptop has two 3.0 ports. I use one of these to connect two external monitors: https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Universal-Docking-Station-Ethernet/dp/B00ECDM78E?tag=vglnk-c102-20 Both monitors are plugged into the docking station, and then the docking station connects to my laptop via one USB 3.0 port. |

The USB on the monitor is usually just to make it easier to hook up things like keyboards, mice, etc. You can't drive the video over it, unless it is a pretty unusual monitor. What model laptop is it? And the laptop must have some sort of video out unless it was bought at a gas station. It might not have VGA, but it probably has either or both HDMI and/or DisplayPort. As noted above, post the model number of the laptop...and do it for the monitors as well, because there isn't nearly enough info here to help. And you also didn't answer my prior question, so you aren't helping yourself here: > Do you mean extending your desktop to include both the integrated laptop monitor and the external monitor or are you trying to have the laptop drive two external monitors? |
