[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Computer gurus, HELP! / Update; its fixed!

My laptop cannot access the internet. It says I am connected to my wireless router, however it will not connect to the internet. I have restarted the modem and router, ran the windows diagnosis, but nothing works. The only way to access the internet is to use a guest connection.

Do you have an IP address? Open a command prompt and type "ipconfig"

If you do, can you ping the default gateway?

Are you connected to the right wireless?

Have you rebooted?

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago.

I deleted that "Internet connection", restarted my laptop

and then if found the new connection after restart.

I fought this for two days before I did that.

My son fixed it! He accessed the IP address and rebooted the router. He is very computer savvy and knew what to do. Thanks for everyone's help.
