I dont know much about computers.  Ive got a sony vaio laptop.  For whatever reason, when I enter certain websites, and also every time I post a reply in a thread on this site, I get a white box system message pop up that says "operation aborted". Once this happens I have to click ok or x out , but either way it closes the current page automatically and takes me to a white screen that says internet explorer could not open the web page, or something to that effect.  What the hell can I do to fix this, its annoying.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you let windows do it's updates? There's a few results on google saying there's a patched that fixed it. Other showing to uninstall/reinstall IE and it'll fix it.

Updates are very important, fixed a friends computer yesterday where certain text was showing up as empty blocks, 5 updates later good to go
