Well earlier today my computer started to beep every 3-5 minutes. I've ran search and destroy and it came back clean. Everything seems to be ok except for the beeping. What would cause this and what information do you need to try to get it sorted out? |

There's a way to disable that beep. I would recommend you first figure out why it's beeping, since it could be an indication of a very serious hardware or software problem.
If you ascertain that it's merely beeping when you type a certain way, or some other annoying cause that makes the rest of us disable the beep, do this: 1. Find your Windows OS's Device Manager. Usually in Control Panel, or System, or Admin tools or something. Google if you come up dry. 2. Select "View" on the top menu, and the "Show Hidden Devices" below it. 3. Go down to "Non Plug and Play Devices", open "Beep" or "System Beep" and disable it. 4. Reboot. Again, though, make sure that it's not beeping to warn you of some critical problem like a motherboard or drive failure or a virus or something. |
