I cant open my freshly installed COD2. Everytime i try it says : COD2 didnt shut down right last time. do you want to start in safe mode? and regardless of whether you click no or yes, it pops up that there is an unrecoverable problem with direct X. I downloaded the latest version, 9.0c and it still continues to have this problem. It suggests getting updated video drivers, but i dont know what video card i have. can anyone help me please? thanks arf

click on run
type in dxdiag
It'll give you info on your vid card and drivers along w/other "stuff"

also, this discussion should be down in the war gaming section, might get a better response.

Good luck

In display tab, it should give your vid card specs and driver specs.

If updating your vid drivers don't work, try a complete uninstall.  You'll have to go in to program files and delete anything that might be left over, in case you haven't done that already.

Other than that, don't know what else to tell you.

Good luck

PS, as mention above, if it's on board video, it doesn't have enuf power.

It shouldn't have taken that long to load, just for giggles, I have a crappy laptop to see how long it'll load on to it and it's about done.  Don't know why it took your computer that long.  Sometimes if it takes a long time to load, there is a problem, I don't what kind or such, but that's my experience.

About your vid card -
I think you can play it ok, but on low settings (i think)

good luck

the problem, was that my cd drive was going too fast apparently. I used an outside program to slow down the CD drive and it worked. But i only figured that out after 7 attempts to download and it kept stopping in different places. so i couldnt figure out what was going on.
