My PC is a few years old. I had it built in Aug 0f 2002 and it has done well for me. It is still going strong. All I have done is replace the motherboard. Otherwise, I upgraded the video card and added some more DDRAM. The most demanding game I have played on my PC is Battlefield 2142. Otherwise all theother games have been low key. But, I'm looking to go for "America's Army" and other such more demanding games. I need to upgrade. What do you suggest I upgrade for sure? My budget is around $200 or so. Here is what I have currently: AMD 1800+ 1.53 GHz Radeon 9550 vid card 786 DDRAM DVD player and reg CD player (52X) Any help is appreciated. Thanks- |

i would have to agree, no one upgrade will do the trick, for $200 you could either upgrade the motherboard and cpu, or you could get a mid range video card, if only 1 upgrade is done the other will bottleneck the whole system. if i had to pick in that price range i think i would just start piecing together a new rig all together and use the current setup in the mean time. it is a weird transition time for that old system which is going to be costly, in order to do a worth while upgrade everything will have to be replaced due to compatibility issues. at this time buying a motherboard that will support that vid card and your current ram is a serious waste of money. |
