So with the wealth of information out there pertaining to firearms (much of which is found right in your local gun store) I decided to make a compilation of the top 10 facts you will need to buy the right gun and, God forbid, defend your life with it.

1. When it comes to home defense, the shotgun is the end-all be-all. All you have to do is rack it and the bad guys are GONE.

2. You don't really need to aim with a shotgun; just point and shoot. For home defense, I recommend #8 shot.

3. A .45 has much more stopping power than a 9mm.

4. Assault rifles are meant to wound, not kill. This basically keeps enemy forces more preoccupied with tending to their wounded and getting them out of the fight.

5. Be sure to clean your AR-15 after every session at the range. If it gets dirty, it will not be reliable.

6. Don't be a "gear queer." As a general rule of thumb, if you're paying over $100 for a sight, you're paying too much. They all pretty much do the same thing.

7. A gas piston is much more reliable than DI.

8. All AR manufacturers get their parts from the same manufacturers, so it really doesn't matter which one you buy.

9. .22 LR kills more people than any other caliber combined. Thus, a .22 makes a great carry gun.

10. 5.56 will definitely over penetrate. Thus, it's not really suitable for home defense.

Let me know if there's anything else I need to add!
