 Recording of Surrounded Russian Units  Chechnya - Grozny Street Battles Intensify https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Grozny_(1994%E2%80%9395) The First Battle of Grozny[9] was the Russian Army's invasion and subsequent conquest of the Chechen capital, Grozny, during the early months of the First Chechen War. The attack lasted from December 1994 to March 1995, resulted in the military occupation of the city by the Russian Army and rallied most of the Chechen nation around the government of Dzhokhar Dudayev. The initial assault resulted in very high Russian Army casualties and an almost complete breakdown of morale in the Russian forces. It took them another two months of heavy fighting, and a change in their tactics, before they were able to capture Grozny. The battle caused enormous destruction and casualties amongst the civilian population and saw the heaviest bombing campaign in Europe since the end of World War II.[10]        |

Glad we left Russia in '99. My brother would have probably ended up in that shit if we didn't. My cousin wasn't so lucky. I'm told he came back pretty fucked up in the head from it and killed himself shortly after.

People act like the Russians are a big threat; but they are maxed out even trying to take the east half of Ukraine. They have less GDP than Texas, 5 times the population and generous commie payouts.
If they didn’t inherit the Soviet Union’s nuclear arsenal and spy apparatus, nobody would give two shits about them. |

Even though it isn't covered in the media, one has to assume that Iran is behind a lot of these destabilizing wars in the middle east over the last 20 years, as part of their overarching long range plan / strategy. The first Chechen war was brutal, but it also illustrated that if the US military had to fight the Russians in the 1990's, it largely might have been a walk over on our part. Russians were poorly trained, poorly lead, and had to resort to artillery shelling all of Grozny to have half a chance to take over the city. |
