Does your Colt Sporter have a Large pivot pin or a standard pivot pin and if standard is it drilled for the spring & Detent? I have two Sporters. A Large Hole "Competition Hbar" and a Standard hole (Drilled) "Match Hbar".

Large hole...and waiting on Daniel Defense to come through with those Les Baer large hole uppers....

Mine is a Large Hole.

I have two Sporter Match HBARs w/sequential serial numbers. Both have the small pivot with the detent hole factory drilled in the fence, and have had standard pushpins installed. They have large fire control pins, and sear blocks (blue labels).

6601, no bayonet lug, A2 flash hider, sear block, small take down pins, front one a screw stop on left side, fire control pins are large diameter. The front of the receiver by the take down pin has provisions for a conventional detent retained take down pin.

What he said, large pin. Can you put a conventional retained take down pin in instead of the screw in?

Large hole, "birdcage" supressor, no bayo lug & no sear block.

Mine (6551) has the standard pin diameter. It does have the holes for the spring and detent. My rifle currently is using a standard pivot pin with the spring and detent. It used to have the pin with screw, which I didnt like, got in the way for cleaning. Has flash hider but no bayo lug. Colt grey color on recievers. Sear block (aaagghh).

Well it appears that small hole Sporters drilled for the spring & detent are a little more common than some peaple believe.

Marked AR15-A2 Govt. Model. No sear block, has a bayo lug, birdcage suppressor, and large front pin. Doesn't look like it's drilled for a detent. The barrel isn't thick the full length. When attached to the Tromix .44 Mag upper, it requires the offset pin. But when the pin is tightened, any play between the lower and upper is completely eliminated. I kinda like it.

My pre-ban Colt HBAR (6700)has the small hole pivot pin with the detent hole drilled, a Bushy pivot pin, detent pin, and spring slipped right in and works perfectly. While my AR-15A2 (67??) has the large pivot pin and no detent hole.

AR15fan, good topic! Please post the tabulated results. My Model R6601 has standard size, IS drilled for standard push-pin, and, furthermore, is installed. Furthermore, a complete Colt upper 20'' 1/7 A2 including bayonet lug is installed in lieu of the HBAR (no lug) it came with. Next project, remove pesky internal block.

Large hole, which kinda sucks since I have a Bushy upper with that funky off-center pin. Otherwise, LOVE it. Have every possible non-PC item I can get for it except a grenade launcher. (Anybody selling one? [;)])

R6601 no lug A2 flash hider. Small hole(mil-spec) It has the front push pin that uses the screw. Gonna have to look and see if it is drilled for spring and detent. never looked. Just looked at my Sporter. Not sure what I'm looking for realy but I think it is drilled. If I hold the gun like I'm going to shoot, the receiver has a hole on the right side in the raised fence maybe for retainer pin. Then a hole in the front on the right side going back to the other hole. So they would intersect. You have to remove the pin to see the 2nd hole I described. These are the only holes in the receiver with no pins or anything. Also, my post ban MT6731 has the same holes. Are these what I need to put regular push pins in the front to get rid of the stupid screws I need a screwdriver to remove? This is my only complaint with Colt AR's buy the way. I saw a new MT6700 on a gun show table that had the normal front push pin already installed from the factory. Maybe they are changing this.
