Here is Massachusetts, we call our state police "Staties."  I think Washington calls theirs "Staters."

To help me add a little colloquial to a passage in something I'm writing, what do those in Colorado call their State Patrol guys.

Local/city LE's I call "The Cops" or "The Police"... more like "The PO-leeeeece"

County LE's I call "Sheriff" or "Deputies"

State LE's I call "Staties" or "Troopers"

Now... as far as my actions...

Local/city - I smile and say hello to them

County - I make no movements at all

State - I lie down on the ground in Felony Arrest style. Those boys are serious as all hell, and arent the nicest fellas. Remind me of my DI's from basic... must be the hat.
