| Had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy today. Actually the procedures weren't too bad. The prep the night before is the bad part. Has anyone else been? |
|
Yep, I'm 55 and I had mine done at 53.
The prep is the worst, but not that bad. My brother-in-law did mine, I stayed at his house the night before and he mixed the Fleet with Gin - worked out great! PSA! - Anyone over the age of 50 needs to get this done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Colon cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers out there and so easily detected and cured if you would only get a colonoscopy!!! |

Thanks for refreshing my memory. |

I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy last October. They even gave me souvenir photos of my insides. I remember them giving me the pictures and I couldn't tell which way was up on the sheet because I was so high off the demerol I couldn't read the numbers from the screen caps. |

I just had mine last year, piece of cake. Do not go to the all you can eat Chili/Mexican buffet, eat light for a couple of days BEFORE your exam. My doctor gave me MOVIPREP, the afternoon dose flushed me out, the next morning dose washed me out. Had 2 good looking nurses to talk with until til the lights went out. Funny thing happened after I woke up, I asked the wife what they found, she told me. I fell back asleep for a few minutes, woke up and asked the wife what they found, she said I already told you once. I did not remember her telling me. We then ate lunch, and I drove 75 miles back home. I took about a 2 hour nap, and you guessed it, could not remember what she had said. That was strong shit they gave me. |

Probably the same shit they gave me - propofol, the same thing that offed Michael Jackson.... Yeah, that shit is serious! |
| The prep sucked. Over a gallon of nasty, salty tasting shit. The procedure itself was a piece of cake. All I remember is laying down on the table and then walking into a restaurant about an hour later. The worst part was getting diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. |

Yep, had two of 'em. One at 55 and one two months ago at 62.
Ain't Propofol wonderful? Found and removed 7 polyps the first trip and two polyps last time. Prep was hell, as you probably know. I opted for the syrup drink at 6:00PM and the second gulp at 9:00PM the night before. I can absulutely guarantee you I was totally empty an hour after the first dose; riding the porcelan bus the whole time. The bitch was the second shot at 9:00PM. Wasn't needed unless you like peeing yellow liquid out of your butt at the speed of sound. Good thing, though, is that I'm done for life. At 62 years of age, something else will kill me before slow-growing colon cancer anyway. Poor Robin Gibb; never had one colonoscopy and it spread to his liver and finally to his brain. Rather get hit by a semi. It'd be quicker and less painful. |

Mine is scheduled for August. Not looking forward to the Prep, I will be unconscious for the the procedures. Upper Endoscopy and Colonoscopy. Those of us who have done it always make a big deal of the prep, actually it's just four hours or so of shitting (not including drinking the "stuff") - it's really not a big deal just make sure you do it at home very near your toilet because when the "wave" hits you need to get there FAST. For me anyway, after I was totally "evacuated" I felt damn good! |

Quoted: I have not had one yet, but I will probably be scheduled for one within the next few weeks. Just how bad is it? Not bad. When you drink the prep, just stay close to the head. No pain - and the doc and nurses were good. I was knocked out, and don't remember anything of the experience. That's the way it aught to be. I'm due for it again in the next 2 years as they found a couple of polyps that they removed. No cancer - but had I not had it done? Well. I don't wanna think about what could have happened if I didn't. |

The monumental farting afterwards is fucking awesome! +87 It is not bad. I had one 2 years ago at age 50, it was fun compared to the one I have at age 25. They have come a long way with this procedure.... Wife was scared shitless about getting in for her's, finally got her in and they remove 2 polyps, this may have saved her life.... Just do it! |

I was clean but now they want me to do the pill camera thing next week. My stomach has been hurting since February and the Doc can't figure out why. They are running out of tests to give me. Multiple xrays and blood and urine for the lab. Sonagram, EKG, CAT scan, PKI, I'm 58 and can retire in 5 months now this. My BIL offered to do mine also. I declined since he's only a plumber. |

I had UC for 7 years until I had a total collectomy in 2010 (25 yr old). You could say I had a few in my time.
Only 1 was I awake for and that was just a Sigmoid. Call me Michael Jackson but I kinda enjoyed getting knocked out. If I can't remember it, it didn't happen.... right?

I had mine done at age 25 Used Mirax (tasteless grainy powder you mix with gatorade). Pretty east overall, the worst part is not being able to drink anything the morning you wakeup for the operation. I was soooo damn thirsty and pretty hungry after having no solid food for 24 hours. Crohns disease was the diagnosis |

My dad has a hilarious story about his first colonoscopy.
He is laying there on the table wearing the johnny, open in the back with his ass exposed and ready for the "scope." In walks the MALE nurse to begin the procedure, and yep, you guessed it - the nurse is as gay as the day is long (one of the real swishy, obvious gays). Just who you want giving you a colonoscopy, right? To his credit, though, Dad said the guy was pretty cool and professional about things and it was a breeze. I'm due to get this done soon and not looking forward to it. |
nothing to brag about
