Very nice.... I have a 4.7 HRA from CMP with correct barrel, 3/8 DAS etc but no where near the condition yours is in....

Torn: Would love that but I have an issue with owning a firearm I don't shoot.
It's in much better hands than mine right now. :-) |
|
The words "very nice" don't do that rifle justice.
There is no peer to the U.S. Rifle Cal. .30 M1. |
|
It has been shot some so a little more wouldn't hurt.
It is a nice one, regret not buying more of those minty Greek returns. I got bunch of H&R's , one pretty close 57098xx. |
|
No it wouldn't hurt anything put I have plenty of shooters, no reason to fire this one . Just finished up a National Match 7.62 build with mostly NOS parts. That is one I am itching to shoot

Very nice rifle OP.
I have a Garand, but I'm not sure what it is worth. Is there a guide somewhere? |

Very nice rifle OP. Guides (if there are any)are worthless as prices change pretty fast I have a Garand, but I'm not sure what it is worth. Is there a guide somewhere? View Quote The more detailed info the more accurate the estimate |

Man that's a beauty! I only have a mixmaster IHC and am a bit jealous.

What does the 10-55 on the barrel stamping mean? It is a re-barrel date, arsenal rebuild date, manufacture date, or some other code?
ETA: sorry, I forgot my manners...it truly is a gorgeous rifle, and like you, I would be reluctant to shoot it too...I would probably wear the finish fondling it though... |
|
I have a 5.7 HRA that I received from the CMP in 2000. All matching less the SA replacement bolt.
Won Gold shooting it at the 2001 Camp Perry Garand match. OP, if you do decide to sell...., list it on the CMP forum - - - Somebody will pay whatever you ask for it. |

It is an icon of industrial art, meeting weapons history, at the intersection of a wonderful era in America (the fantastic '50s).
That rifle can be savored without even firing it. But have other M1s you can shoot the hell out of. |

Buying guns to not shoot them is like buying a Ferrari to not drive it.

If I were lucky enough to find a similar specimen, what price range would you expect, OP?
|
|

I've got a 5.9 mil CMP Garand. Maybe I will get it out later tonight and take some pictures. Let y'all tell me if I have anything notable.

I would say a rifle like this with documentation in todays market $2200 maybe $2500 on a very good day. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

nice...i have a collector grade HRA from early on when that grading system started, the stock is pretty boogered up near the trigger guard though and I was always a little disappointed in it because of that. I have a correct grade that is much nice, and was probably never fired much if at all that is also interesting because it has a partial DoD proof stamp on the charging handle.

|
Very nice...i have two post war collector grade springfields i have never shot with zero wear on metal. I will prob never shoot them
I sold all my other shooters in H&R and IHC flavors...and told myself i would replace one with a 308 but still have not |

Great looking rifle.
I have an HRA 5.7 that was probably made the same day as yours. It's a little over 100 digits different. I will use your pics to double check mine. |

It looks like I might need to do some research. I'm not sure that it really matters though, I'm sure it's been reparked at a later date.
I haven't fired this one, but I have another HRA that is alot more accurate than my SA's. |
