Had lunch with a former co-worker today who was a USMC vet and mentioned the Cold War Recognition Certificate. First time I've heard of it. Anybody else apply/get one?
Who is eligible? All members of the armed forces and federal government civilian personnel who faithfully served the United States during the Cold War era, Sept. 2, 1945 to Dec. 26, 1991.

I have got mine... Go to - http://coldwar.army.mil/default.htm it says.... "In accordance with section 1084 of the Fiscal Year 1998 National Defense Authorization Act, the Secretary of Defense approved awarding Cold War Recognition Certificates to all members of the armed forces and qualified federal government civilian personnel who faithfully and honorably served the United States anytime during the Cold War era. Which is defined as Sept. 2, 1945 to Dec. 26, 1991 . " When I lived in NJ I applied for this, when I moved to TX I sent them a email stating that I moved and they replied that they had updated my info. it took about 6-7 months. I served in Germany during 86-87 and that was "cold" enough for me. So we all earned it. Sign up and get yours. Chris

At one time there was some talk in Congress about authorizing a medal for "Cold War Veterans". I don't know what became of it.
