This was a great event. Ran super smooth.
Thank you to our hosts, BMSMB, Splat and Marsie. Also want to thank the other staff members. This would not be possible without our dedicated staff members. Congrats kels on your big win! Super happy for you. BMSMB, your winning run was inspiring. I could barely keep up with you while timing you. I've been slacking lately. Hadn't worked out in months. Haven't shot a gun since Heartland last year. Somehow was able to pull off 11th place. Just skirting my first top ten run... again... Attached File |

Thank you all for making NW4 a great event, our staff were amazing as always and made my life so much easier. Greatly appreciate all of your help!
Enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones, hope to see a lot of you again next year! This year I decided to try something new and did a night run. As far as I'm aware, I'm the first lady to run night. I was really happy with my run for what it was. I was hoping to hit more rifle targets, but didn't make it past 100 yards. I guess that's what happens when I only practice once, with one mag of ammo before my run. Still extremely new to NV, and need a lot of work on it...gives me something to practice over the next year! Goal is to take a high lady while running night at some point! My obstacles were about on par with normal and I still cleared pistol relatively easily, just need more time behind the rifle at night and I should be able to get a lot better. Especially if I manage to get my hands on a clip on. Congrats to Kelsgro on your win, its been awesome Watching you improve every year, Glad you keep coming back to cola! @BMSMB, you finally got your 1*st place. Congrats! You've been working at this for awhile, and I'm glad it finally came together. Time for you to start bringing home more uppers, you have 5 more to win to catch up to me. Attached File Thanks to everyone who played fetch with Copper, he appreciates having the stick thrown constantly all day every day for him. Attached File Glad I was able to convince my cousin to come out and run, he's already ready to build a rifle. Thanks @spyderboy03 for donating a trigger to his new build already. Attached File @ORJeepGuy, you might have gotten than top 10 if you remembered your bipod, don't have a picture of the Nalgene substitute unfortunately Attached File @Nurse_holliday sorry for messing up your score card originally, ill double check them next year Attached File Goal is to have some sort of work party this summer for anyone who is interested, want to get some more work done at cola camp. In addition to fixing the shooting berms that got destroyed by all of the misses on the rifle range. Every year our event runs smoother it seems, glad people keep coming back and are enjoying the shenanigans in the snow. Big shout out to @KOLAT for helping tow almost everyone out of the field Saturday. The snow made it difficult to get in and out of the field but glad we were able to park down there makes it easier when camping is near cola camp. |

It was a great event. Thank you to Kolat for towing me out.
The ghetto rigged camp platform worked as well as I had hoped. I brought food just in case and didn’t touch any of it. The hosts food was amazing! My rifle was run the way it is set up at home. Disappointed that I couldn’t get out as far as I hoped but I am comfortable with it as it currently is. I may take another rifle and make a midrange cola specific rifle. Learned a lot and know where I need to improve. Had fun chatting with some old faces I remember and some new ones that I felt honored to meet. I also found proof that there are female arfcom members and that they aren’t just a myth. Flaming MrPib around the fire and walking around with Stu’s NOX18 and Quad tubes was great. Planing to attend next year and hopefully get a few more events as well. Also: damn near hit a pair of moose on the drive in. There are witnesses to that @JohnStoner was in the car behind me. |

A massive thank you to BMSMB and Splat for hosting a wonderful event, along with all the staff for keeping everything moving along smoothly. Mistakes were absolutely made at this event, some more glorious than others. I need to learn the ways of @Kolat to get a bit bigger so moving the beams would be a little more manageable. |

This was my first clean event. Pretty stoked to have been able to pull a 1st* place run as well! I had a handgun malfunction about half way through the pistol range that locked my handgun up solid and I thought for sure my run was tanked. Took about 30 seconds, but was finally able to rack it clear and finish up. This was also my first event to try a 2L again after my failed chug with one at Classic X. I barely cleared it, and I'm not sure if I want to try it at the next event. My conditioning wasn't quite where I wanted it to be due to a back injury that required physical therapy the last few months. Because of that, I took the obstacles and run at a more relaxed pace. I think this ended up helping me clear the chug as I didn't have the "gut check" that I normally have after doing a full push through the run and obstacles.
It was great seeing all the cola bros/sis and I can't wait to see you all again! Thank you to all of our amazing sponsors. Very excited about my haul from the prize table this year! Attached File For the event we tried a few new things this year. We did not limit ammo or mags at all, upped the target count a bit, and did not allow any spotter corrections for rifle. The rifle portion really opened a few eyes I think. The event went very well I think, but I'd love any feedback (public or private) on how you think we could improve. My goal is to try and make the event better every year. One final note. Please do not use any ammo that attracts a magnet. We had at least one runner use green tip this year, and my targets suffered. This was at 500 yards... Attached File |

Not sure where this happened. Don't know why my triceps are sore. That doesn't make a lot of sense. Happy with obstacles, peeps, ak First part of run i was stumbling and sinking into snow and brush. Tripped once. Pretty slow on that baton portion. Then when i got to the rest of the run i slow shuffle jogged and it was okay. Snow was pretty shifty, which zaps speed and takes a little more energy. But wasn't too bad. Then pistol went pretty quickly. Used just red dot under NODs. Versus laser last year. Easier with just red dot i think. Laser is distracting. Smoked the pistol pretty well. Couldn't see the minimo very well so turned on helmet ir light to help. Rifle.... pretty disappointed. I had done a fair amount of long range practice and figuring out dope and everything. A few days before cola, I shot this group at 300 yards with clip on night vision at night, while laying in snow. Attached File But... at cola: Standing 100 yard shots, were done easy quick. 200 I got tricked by the sideways snow in the night scope and was aiming off to the right for a couple shots thinking wind might be stronger but found put didn't need to. Held center and made the hits. Moved onto 300 yds. Made 3 hits of the 4 targets at 300. But could not see the 4th target at all. I tried no illuminator, low illuminator, high illuminator. Could not see it. I tried to guess where it was and hold in that space but could not hit it. Could not see it at all. After thinking about it all night I think I was holding too far to the right. I should have kept coming left till I hit something. I asked to move on to other targets, but this was not allowed. So I timed out, without being able to attempt the 325-550 targets. That's a lot of penalties. Oh well. Chug went slower than I thought it would and was more painful than I had hoped. I contemplated quitting at bottle 3, 4. And 5. But was able to finish. And this year I was able to puke most of it up afterward. Which was very nice. Not feeling sick for 2 hours after. Still had fun. Great to see you all and catch up. Learned some more. Got better, but not good enough. Special thanks to Kevin and Lauren and property hosts and all the staff. And John Stoner who is the friendliest most knowledgeable dude around. Shout out to kolat for his towing skills ( I didn't need then for my lesbian assault vehicle, but it was cool to watch). And for his bolt gun run. I love this stuff and wish I could do it more often. |
