The weight of the snowshoe drag was increased by about 30% this year. We also made it a requirement for the runners to carry it to the point that it is dragged from to make it self resetting.
Even with the added weight and work, only 1 person failed that obstacle. Attached File Attached File |

I need practice at pushing a big tire.
I think gyroscopic speed would have helped jeep it straighter. Versus me slow roll muscling it. |
|
|
The tires obstacle this year was FAR easier and much less time consuming than last year.
This year you just needed to grab the big tire and move it to the other end. Attached File At the far end, the small tires needed to swap posts, and then the big tire was brought back. Attached File We had 5 more obstacle failures on this compared to the one last year. This obstacle was reworked because to many people took more than 5 minutes to complete! There was 1 minute less allowed for the overall obstacles this year, but this obstacle change easily made up for it. I think there were so many more failures this year, because last year, anyone who tried to quit on this one was mocked by the ladies who did the obstacle during early runs. |

Was awesome seeing APC friends and making new Cola friends. Thanks to the staff for the hospitality and making the range a target rich environment! I surprised myself with how well I shot the rifle at distance-only used 45 rounds.
Sadly I had 5 rifle mags but only 2 pistol and was not allowed to bayonet charge when I ran out of pistol ammo Lesson learned. The obstacles were great. I had a large crowd of hecklers that make "the suck" much fun. Splat totally distracted me during the plate carry I look forward to hanging around longer when things wrap up next year to socialize but had to rush home ASAP this time. BTW, the sponsors are amazing-very happy to give them my business |

I would like to say thank you to the hosts for use of the property, and to our sponsors for graciously donating items to the event and encouraging the madness. This was the first time running combat for me, and it was mostly not terrible. The addition of choosing your own adventure by carrying whatever ammo you wanted to shoot definitely made it interesting because you could save weight and go bare minimum, or you could allow for being a little faster and tolerate some misses by bringing another mag.
I definitely should have physically prepared better, but I am happy with my performance and I know I need to step it up. Also, that raspberry Bubly or whatever it was, was terrible. Thank you very much Esstac for the opportunity to do something stupid for a cool piece of gear! Attached File |

I was very impressed with the handgun shooting this year. There were 20 targets and most people made easy work of them! Cola Warriors are getting the right gear, and are getting better at using it!
The first firing position had 7 8" plates. They were spaced every 5 yards from 10 to 40 yards. Attached File The 2nd firing position had a dueling tree at 12 yards that required 6 hits. It also had a MOA Targets Minimo at 20 yards. The Minimo required a headshot, and then a chest shot to reset it. Attached File The third firing position had a Texas star at 15 yards. When I moved the star there, it was in good condition and spinning freely. By staff runs, and for the event, it had begun moving very sluggishly. Most shooters made quick work of it. |

Rifle consisted of 22 targets.
The first 3 were 2/3rds IPSC targets shot standing, unsuported, at 100 yards. Attached File The next 9 targets were shot from an old water pressure tank. A 5 or 6" hostage taker at 100 yards, 3 8" squares and 1 9" plate at 200 yards, and 2 10" and 2 12" plates at 300 yards. Attached File The final 10 targets were shot from the prone and ranged from 325 to approximately 547 yards, and each was spaced about 25 yards apart. Shooters were required to hit the closer one before progressing to the next. These targets consisted of an abominable snowpeep, 3 2/3rd IPSC targets, 14" plate, 16" plate, 18" plate, 2 full size IPSC targets, and a 20" plate. Attached File A lot of shooters consistantly hit low. |

Thank you for another awesome event! I had a ton a fun and it was good to see old friends and make new ones. I definitely liked the range this year! Food was good and the weather was warm. Our sponsors are awesome and never cease to amaze me with their generosity!

Quoted: What about the Texas star position made it move sluggishly? And how did the minimo work out for you guys? I generally recommend for competition use to start with the head down. That lets people gauge their misses on the center and make quick work of it. I also like watching them cry when they hit the torso and claim that the target doesn't work right. View Quote Texas star issue wasn't due to positioning. Last time that thing was lubed was with CherryBalmz just before West 5... I think I just need to grease it. I didnt realize until the main event that it was having issues and at that point I remembered something from Splats night run that made me think it was sluggish then as well. Thought the most fair thing was to leave as is and fix after the event. Minimo worked great! I think I need to add some more stabilization to the base I built. At least one shooter (running 10mm) was able to hit the body fast enough to cause the head to fall. |

Splat being an excellent shooter is the most likely explanation.
We all know that Cherry bombs once every five years is more than plenty lubrication. |

I've been wondering what it is from and you've got me doing mental gymnastics trying to figure out if it is from the logs. It's the inside of my bicep, not the top. |

First time that AR has launched a grenade. I think that also may be what caused the issue with the rear takedown pin on the lower. I'm very surprised by how far that grenade went. I was not expecting it to hit the 200 yard berm using 5.56. |
