TOP OBAMA CAMPAIGN FINANCIER ATTEMPTED TO STORM STAGE DURING SARAH PALIN SPEECH
Thursday, September 4, 2008 | Kristinn (Free Republic)

One of Barack Obama's elite fundraisers from the anti-American group Code Pink attempted to storm the stage last night during Republican vice presidential nominee Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's acceptance speech at the GOP convention in St. Paul.

Jodie Evans, one of a group of about 500 top financiers who have bundled tens of thousands of dollars for the Obama campaign was seized by the Secret Service after she had made her way to side of the stage and and started to yell at Palin.

The Washington Post reported on the incident:

10:45 p.m. A pair of Code Pink activists just got to the very edge of the stage and were a moment away from apparently running on stage, right by the Kentucky slot on the floor next to a host of McCain's most senior staffers.

Secret Service men grabbed them at last minute and literally dragged them out.
--Paul Kane

Evans has bundled between $50,000 and $100,000 for Obama as well as contributing the maximum $2300 to Obama's presidential primary campaign. She co-hosted Obama's breakout Hollywood fundraiser at the start of his campaign in February 2007.

As a bundler, Evans has been given perks that include regular briefings by top campaign staffers on policy and private meetings with Obama and his vice presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Evans is infamous in conservative and military family circles for publicly endorsing the terrorists in Iraq against the American soldiers who toppled Saddam Hussein and have fought to keep free Iraq from falling to the hands of Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups and nations.

Evans has worked with state sponsors of terrorism including the governments of Castro's Cuba and the the late Saddam Hussein. She has also met with Venezualan dictator Hugo Chavez and has professed her "love" for him.

Evans has led Code Pink's campaign against the Marines in Berkeley where the group has called the Marines "assassins" and Evans herself has compared the Marine recruiting center in Berkeley to a porn shop.

Code Pink issued a press release a short while ago bragging about their attempt to disrupt Palin's speech:

Co-founders Medea Benjamin and Jodie Evans, who were given their tickets to the speech by a Republican delegate who was frustrated with the Republican party and Sarah Palin, caught the attention of Palin with their banners and shouting about 15 minutes into her speech. Palin stopped talking for a moment to turn to look at them.

After another moment, security then grabbed Benjamin and Evans and escorted them one at a time out of the St. Paul Xcel Center, where they were held until the end of the Palin’s speech and told they would be arrested if they tried to reenter. They were told they’d committed an arrestable offense but they were not charged.

“Sarah Palin is not a woman’s choice,” said Jodie Evans, co-founder, moments after being released. “That’s it.”

CODEPINK is a nonpartisan women’s peace group. They vehemently oppose Palin’s pro-war, anti-environment, anti-choice positions. More details to come. For questions, please call Jodie Evans at 310-913-4821.

Obama has rejected several requests from troop support groups that he renounce Evans for her support of the terrorists in Iraq.

makes me think that the ATF should be put in charge of the Secret Service.  I think they would have known how to handle such an obvious threat to a Vice Presidential candidate ... and her dog too!

That twit getting into the sanctum with the delegates and while the VP candidate was speaking was an outrageous breakdown of security.

Someone who can get that far can wield some kind of weapon.   I hope they do better.

Everybody worries that BO will get shot at first.  Just might be Palin shot by a leftie.

Note:  I am not advocating, endorsing or asking for violence against Palin.

Look at that America. This is a diehard Obama supporter. Look at who she is. Look at what she stands for. Then realize, much of Obama's supporters share her viewpoints.

Now America, do we need Obama in office? If this is the kind of people who are backing him, what does that say about Obama?

This finally proves that Sarah Palin is not a member as I have yet to see the Draw Down story in GD yet.  She also failed to properly blade.

Psycho eyes - check

Jodie has been a community, social and political organizer for the last 30 years. She has used her skills, for the protection of the earth, to give voice to communities and people who go unheard and unseen, in the area of human and civil rights, to protect the rights of women, to raise the minimum wage for farm workers, to protect dolphins, in El Salvador in the early 80's and with Zapitistas since '94.

From 1973 to 1982, she served in administrative capacities in all of Jerry Brown's campaigns and in his staff and cabinet as Director of Administration. Breakthroughs in wind and solar energy happened while she was overseeing the office of Appropriate Technology.

During the years between 1985 and 1990, she took time off to be a mother while running the Hereditary Disease Foundation and founding the Grief Recovery Center after the death of her daughter. During this period, she was very active as the west coast board member of the Women's Campaign Fund, chair of the federal candidates committee of the Women's Political Committee, member of the Hollywood Women's Political Committee. She also raised money for out of state women candidates for federal offices and pro choice groups CARAL and Voters for Choice. With a group of women friends concerned about bringing children in to this world founded Environmental Media Association.

Along with a group of friends from the Brown administration, she was one of the founding board members of Sand County, a venture capital fund. The purpose of the fund was to invest in start up companies that solved environmental or social problems. This company also spawned a tax-free muni bond fund, The Muir Fund, that was named the fifth best fund in California in 1993. Some of it's other successes were Working Assets Funding Service and Odwalla Juices. She was also a member of the Social Venture Network, business owners and investors with a commitment to bring social and human values in to the work place.

In 1990, Jodie was very active in the Big Green campaign. After it's defeat, she, along with her partners Tom Hayden and Cathryn Tiddens, opened the first environmental department store, Terra Verde in Santa Monica. She also served as a board member of People for Parks, which was successful in passing an initiative for more funding to save the public parks in Los Angeles. Her other areas of involvement were supporting activists organizations such as, Citizen Action, Neighbor to Neighbor, Earth Island Institute, Environmental Media Association, Interfaith Task Force on Central America, International Overseas Education Fund, Los Angeles Women's Foundation, El Rescate, C.A.R.E., etc.

In 1991, she came back together with her friend Jerry Brown to run his campaign for President which was based on political reform and a $100. contribution limit. The innovations she began in his campaign have become the standard in all campaigns.

Following the campaign, she created We the People to encourage those that had been motivated by the efforts of the campaign to work in their communities by creating community projects and instilling them with habits of democracy and to continue the fight against big money in the election process. She also produced the radio program 'We the People with Jerry Brown', a daily liberal talk show. The best seller, Dialogues, is based on interviews from this show. From '94 she spent 4 years producing Stripped and Teased; Tales of Las Vegas Women.

She then co-created, with Georgia Kelly, a Peace Conference in Dubrovnik in June of 1999, about imagining Peace in the 21st century. The documentary "Unfinished Peace" created at the conference by 29 youth from the Balkan States, was in the Sundance Film Festival in 2001. After producing the very successful day of events for Mayor Jerry Brown's inaugural, Celebrating Oakland, she produced with her 2 partners the world Festival of Sacred Music in Los Angeles, 9 days and 85 concerts of sacred music, in October of '99, an event inspired by the Dalai Lama. She recently finished producing the Shadow Conventions 2000, alternative conventions to politics as usual.

In April 2002 she wrote a mission statement for Bad Babes and their Buddies, took it to a gathering she assisted in organizing that became Unreasonable Women of the Earth her life has been consumed with Codepink: Women for Peace since September of 2002.

Jodie Evans
Jodie Evans is a radical activist and Democratic fundraiser best known as the co-founder (along with Diane Wilson, a Wiccan calling herself Starhawk, and Global Exchange’s Medea Benjamin) of Code Pink for Peace. Evans also works closely with Leslie Cagan, the pro-Castro leader of United For Peace and Justice.

From 1973 to 1982, Evans worked in administrative capacities in the political campaigns of Jerry Brown, who during those years served as California’s Secretary of State and then Governor. She also held a cabinet post as Governor Brown’s Director of Administration.

Evans… founded the Grief Recovery Center after the death of her daughter. During this period, she held various positions with the Women’s Campaign Fund, the Women’s Political Committee, and the Hollywood Women’s Political Committee. She also worked as a fundraiser for out-of-state female candidates for federal offices, and for the pro-abortion organizations CARAL (the California subsidiary of NARAL Pro-Choice America) and Voters for Choice…

In 1990 Evans partnered with Tom Hayden and Cathryn Tiddens to open an environmental department store, Terra Verde, in Santa Monica, California.

In 1991 Evans ran Jerry Brown’s presidential campaign. She also produced the radio program We the People with Jerry Brown, a daily leftwing talk show. From 1994 to 1998, she produced the documentary film Stripped and Teased: Tales of Las Vegas Women…

Over the years, Evans has supported such activist groups as Citizen Action, Neighbor to Neighbor, the Earth Island Institute, the Interfaith Task Force on Central America, the International Overseas Education Fund, and the Los Angeles Women’s Foundation.

Evans is currently a Board of Directors member for the Rainforest Action Network.

And from the original FrontPage Magazine article from which much of the above material was derived:

Jodie Evans: Activist in Pink

By John Perazzo
FrontPageMagazine.com | December 8, 2003

..Another Code Pink ally is Medea Benjamin’s group Global Exchange, which has strong ties to the communist Workers World Party. Imbued with a deep hatred for the United States and capitalism in general, Benjamin is a pro-Castro activists who lived in Cuba (and was married to a Cuban) was a principal organizer of the 1999 Seattle riots in which some 50,000 protesters wreaked havoc and tried to shut down the World Trade Organization meetings.

Throughout the 1990s, in fact, many of the Marxists currently working for Code Pink were busy organizing anti-free trade protests – some of them violent – and filing numerous high-profile lawsuits that forced American corporations to spend enormous sums of money to defend themselves…

Jodie Evans… sits on the board of directors of the Rain Forest Action Network (RAN), a coalition of anti-capitalist, anti-corporate environmentalist groups. RAN’s co-founder Michael Roselle also founded the Earth Liberation Front, which the FBI ranks alongside the Animal Liberation Front as the foremost domestic terrorism threats in the United States. According to the FBI, during the past seven years those two groups have been responsible for more than 600 criminal acts and $43 million in damages…

In addition to her Code Pink duties, Jodie Evans also sits on the advisory board of the International Occupation Watch (IOW) center in Iraq, which Code Pink helped establish. The organizers of Occupation Watch — Medea Benjamin and Leslie Cagan — explicitly declared their purpose in setting up headquarters in Baghdad was [to] thin U.S. forces by getting soldiers to declare themselves conscientious objectors.

As a far leftist, Evans has found a comfortable political home in the Democratic Party. Indeed she was a key fundraiser for her longtime friend and political ally, former California governor Gray Davis. Evans’ ex-husband, Westside financier Max Palevsky, actually appointed Davis to his first political job as the fundraiser for Tom Bradley’s 1973 Los Angeles mayoral campaign…

In the weeks preceding the recent California governor’s recall election, Evans was instrumental in convincing several women to come forward and tell the L.A. Times their allegations against Arnold Schwarzenegger. Moreover, she helped organize picketing sessions in front of Schwarzenegger’s campaign headquarters…

From 1973 to 1982, Evans worked in administrative capacities in the political campaigns of Jerry Brown, who during those years served as California's Secretary of State and then Governor. She also held a cabinet post as Governor Brown's Director of Administration.

From 1985 and 1990, Evans headed the Hereditary Disease Foundation and founded the Grief Recovery Center after the death of her daughter. During this period, she held various positions with the Women's Campaign Fund, the Women's Political Committee, and the Hollywood Women's Political Committee. She also worked as a fundraiser for out-of-state female candidates for federal offices, and for the pro-abortion organizations CARAL (the California subsidiary of NARAL Pro-Choice America) and Voters for Choice. Evans also co-founded Environmental Media Association.

In 1990 Evans partnered with Tom Hayden and Cathryn Tiddens to open an environmental department store, Terra Verde, in Santa Monica, California.

In 1991 Evans ran Jerry Brown's presidential campaign. She also produced the radio program We the People with Jerry Brown, a daily leftwing talk show. From 1994 to 1998, she produced the documentary film Stripped and Teased: Tales of Las Vegas Women.

Evans rose to public prominence via her leadership role with Code Pink for Peace, a self-described "grassroots peace and social justice movement" formed in 2002 to organize public protests against America's impending war in Iraq. Evans and Code Pink also condemn the racism, sexism, poverty, corporate corruption, and environmental degradation they claim are rampant in the U.S.

For four months from late 2002 through early 2003 (shortly prior to the looming U.S. invasion of Iraq), Evans led Code Pink members in staging all-day antiwar vigils outside the White House. She initiated a campaign that involved presenting pink slips (women's lingerie) to President Bush and other pro-war officials -- a metaphor for pink slips of the paper variety which are traditionally given to employees whose jobs are being terminated. These unique tactics brought Evans and her group considerable national news coverage and many talk-show invitations.

After the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, Evans led a delegation of fifteen Code Pink women to Baghdad, where they met with Iraqi women for the purpose of "creat[ing] the understanding that the people of Iraq are no different than you and me." "We who cherish children will not consent to their murder," said Evans. "Nor do we consent to the murder of their mothers, grandmothers, fathers, grandfathers, or to the deaths of our own sons and daughters in a war for oil." While in Baghdad, Evans repeatedly and publicly painted America as an unprovoked aggressor, and Iraqis as noble defenders of their invaded homeland. "Iraqis continue to resist the occupation in their own way," said Evans and Code Pink.

Contending that the U.S. taxpayer dollars funding the war in Iraq would be better spent on social welfare programs, Evans and Code Pink lamented in 2006 that "in the United States of America, many of our elders … now must choose whether to buy their prescription drugs, or food. Our children's education is eroded. The air they breathe and the water they drink are polluted. Vast numbers of women and children live in poverty."

The threat of distant terrorists, claim Evans and Code Pink, is insignificant when compared to the "real threats" we face every day: "the illness or ordinary accident that could plunge us into poverty, the violence on our own streets, the corporate corruption that can result in the loss of our jobs, our pensions, our security."

In addition to her Code Pink duties, Jodie Evans also sits on the Advisory Board of Iraq Occupation Watch (IOW). Her fellow IOW officials include Leslie Cagan; Medea Benjamin; Rania Masri of the Iraq Action Coalition, Peace Action, United for Peace and Justice, and the American Civil Liberties Union; Maria Luisa Mendonca of the World Social Forum; Phyllis Bennis of the Institute for Policy Studies and the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation; Milan Rai of Voices in the Wilderness; Pratap Chatterjee of Berkeley's Pacifica radio station KPFA; and Stanford University professor Joel Beinin.

Evans was a key fundraiser for her longtime friend and political ally, former California Governor Gray Davis. Evans' ex-husband, financier Max Palevsky, actually appointed Davis to his first political job as a fundraiser for Tom Bradley's 1973 Los Angeles mayoral campaign. Shortly thereafter, Evans and Davis worked closely together during the latter's stint as chief of staff to then-Governor Jerry Brown.

In the weeks preceding California's 2003 gubernatorial recall election, Evans was instrumental in convincing several women to come forward and tell the Los Angeles Times their sexual-harassment allegations about Arnold Schwarzenegger. Evans also helped organize picketing sessions in front of Schwarzenegger's campaign headquarters.

In January 2006, Evans traveled to Venezuela with Cindy Sheehan and Medea Benjamin for a friendly meeting with President Hugo Chavez.

In August 2006, Evans was one of a dozen activists (among whom were also Medea Benjamin, Cindy Sheehan, and Tom Hayden) who participated in a Code Pink-sponsored trip to meet Iraqi "political leaders" in Baghdad. Team member Geoffrey Millard referred to this trip as a "diplomatic communication." As such, it may have violated the legal prohibition against private U.S. citizens conducting their own foreign policy. Among the Iraqi parliamentarians with whom Evans and her cadre met were:

Sheikh Ahmad al-Kubaysi, who once declared that foreign-born jihadists killing U.S. soldiers were "very brave" heroes who were "guaranteed Paradise"; Al-Kubaysi also is said to have given militia leader Moqtada al-Sadr $50 million.
Saleh al-Mutlaq, the trip's prime sponsor, who chided Americans for trying "to brand as terrorists the honorable national resistance movements."
Shortly after that 2006 trip, Evans spoke highly of the conditions that had existed in Iraq under Saddam Hussein: "Let's go back to the Iraq before we invaded, there was a good education and health care system, food for everyone. That system didn't belong to Saddam it belonged to the Iraqi, it belonged to years of creating what a civilization needed. If your parents didn't send you to school they could be put in jail."

Over the years, Evans has supported such activist groups as Citizen Action, Neighbor to Neighbor, the Earth Island Institute, the Interfaith Task Force on Central America, the International Overseas Education Fund, and the Los Angeles Women's Foundation.

Evans is currently a Board of Directors member for the Rainforest Action Network.

PREDICTIONS: This will be Thursday morning's top story in virtually every major media outlet...

By the weekend, Obama will be pressured into (1.) releasing a statement that denounces the actions of Benjamin and Evans as "radical" and "threatening", and (2.) returning all campaign contributions made by said persons.

I've heard, and read that back in the 60's and all the way through the 80's, the funding trail eventually led back to Moscow and the KGB, part of their campaign to promote communism and sow seeds of unrest in the US.

God only know where is goes now.  But I bet George Soros is involved somewhere.
