I was getting tired of trying to clean all of the nooks and crannies with the tooth brush/q-tip routine...Bought some Gunscrubber was going to try that-seems a bit expensive-anyone tried something like Gumout? That stuff works real good on grease.

OK maybe I was a little vague...Has anyone tried this stuff, and how does it work?

GunScrubber=Brake cleaner. Get the non clorinated stuff. c-rock

To me, they are too effective - it’s not like AR-15’s have to be spotless. Use these cleaners only if you are going to re-oil everything. Compressed air is a good compromise for cleaning the trigger group (just be careful about breathing crud being blown about). A couple of years ago a friend damaged a virtually new S&W aluminum frame 5-shot revolver by spraying it with brake cleaner. The hammer, trigger, etc. rusted up and the weapon began malfunctioning.
