Are chrome lined barrels supposed to be smooth as glass on the inside?

I was looking through the bore of one of my rifles today while cleaning and decided to look closer, and I noticed tiny imperfections in some spots. Like very small areas that looked almost like the very beginning of some slight pitting, but I don't know.
Other than that, it's shiny and looks fine.

I don't think it would be pitting/corrosion; the longest I've let the rifle sit after shooting 2 or 3 hundred rounds was maybe 3-4 weeks in my house, not outdoors or anything.

If someone could chime in, that would be great. Thanks.

Who the hell ever leaves rifles sitting "outdoors or anything"?

Was it in the forcing cone area?

Not sure what you mean, I was looking through the muzzle end.

Then no.

No. Industrial chrome coatings are not the same as those found on decorative stuff.

There's no discoloring as far as I can tell.

Just little imperfections. But it was enough to concern me.

Chrome lined bores were designed to resist corrosion from corrosive primers, not to keep the rifle safe when being left outside.

I've never left the rifle outside.

5.56/.223 has never been corrosive.

chrome is hard to deposit in a smooth/even surface

if you want it smooth, lap it.

some of the comments already are retarded

You looked to closely at it.  If you look close enough you'll find tiny imperfections like that in most all bores.  As long it looks shiny/mirrored when you point it toward and lamp and look through it after cleaning.

Not a problem.  Good luck with it.
