I can't stand Christie. He's everything that's wrong with the GOP.

Christie reminds me of a union leader, or something. You know . . . the way he gets all upset and puffed up over shit.

When I first learned he was a Republican, I 'bout fell over! He's a fuckin' RINO to the max and he can KISS MY FREEDOM-LOVING, LIBERTARIAN-LEANING ASS!!!!

Rand Paul is dangerous.

He helps demonstrate the lack of thought and principle among mainstream Republicans.

Ted Cruz is even worse!

I came here to start a thread on that story and the pos land whale that is just another example of a big .gov proponent campaigning under the guise of being conservative.

Maybe he'll pick McStain as a running mate. Seems appropriate.

Cheers!

Indeed.  If Chris Christie said that he hated smoking while huffing gasoline, and thought it was dangerous, I'd at lest have to do some research to see what it was all about just to make sure.

Christie using the emotional fallout of 9-11 is just more proof he is as liberal as they come.

Rand Paul has been one of the very few Republicans worth his salt.  I hope he runs.

Not a big fan of Christie, but he has a point
Its one thing to have a theoretical esoteric conceptual debate on an issue
Its another thing to function in the real world.
I don't think a lot of the theoretical stuff works well when someone tries to apply it to reality.
That's why you inevitably have politicians with lofty goals alter their positions and practices once they're in office
Is his problem he should be focusing on with the R's though? I think  not.
He needs to be looking more at the D's
But he wont come out and say that because he's been practically umbilically tied to Obama since Sandy wandered through and tore up his state

Christie will be deemed acceptable when compared to the Democrat and dissenters will be called Randroids by some people here.

I dislike libertarianism, generally on the grounds of the requirements to govern, but Christie's brand of "conservatism" is 10 times worse than Rand's version of libertarianism, IMO.

Christie is the worst breed of Statist - one of those whom lies within our ranks.

Also, a wonderful snippet from this article -

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/07/25/christie-goes-after-libertarians-hard/

He dismissed some of the current privacy/national security debates as "esoteric.”

He's right. Christie will compromise with voters. With today's demographics we need a Republican candidate who will come together and reach across the aisle.

Here's the problem... Been seeing it since last Century.

Anyone wanting to roll back the FedGov to it's Art 1 Sec 8 duties is instantly denigrated as an "anarchist liberaltarian". Or some other equally meaningless pejorative.

We have too much government involvement in our lives. Magnitudes more than the Founders intended or that is necessarily good for fundamental liberty to exist in a well ordered society.

You don't need to be a full on Libertarian, minarchist, self-governing Anarchist to understand that or to agree with it.
