Chris Christie may be fat, (which seems to be all the Trump 'Tards can throw at him), but in this case he's not wrong.

Trump is Toxic and should he get the nomination in 2024, the Republicans will have an epic loss.

Trump's 2020 antics as a "mad & bad loser" have cost him any chance of winning as a Presidential Candidate in 2024.

Trump should win the Far Right 1/3 rd.

Trump definitely won't win the Far Left 1/3

And the Middle (who made the difference to elect him by a narrow margin in a few states in 2016 as a "unknown - what the hell - he's not a typical politician" won't vote for him after the 2020 "incidents".

All the Democrat has to do is show TV commercials of Trumps Jan 6th speech saying "he'd be marching to the Capital with the crowd", and then cut to the mayhem of the Rioters assaulting the Capital police.  GAME OVER!!!

Chris Christie isn't running for office - He'd be a fool to do so.

Christie is making great money & without any of the 24-7-365 hassles of being responsible in office.

Christie is enjoying making more money & connections being a TV Political Commentator than he'd ever make as a politician, (and then any of the haters posting in this thread).

and before the "Trump 4 Ever" Fan Boi's all scream "Never Trumper" to ignore truth & reality (again) ...

I voted for Trump in 2016 & again in 2020 the elections.

P.S. - Trump could stand to lose a good 60-80 lbs or so too.

I still don't understand how Trump associated with so many
obvious RINOs and swamp creatures that turned on him over the years.

I really liked Trump and his policies, but really have a huge problem with this.

It's almost like Jared and Ivanka, the New York socialites were guiding/advising him.

So how exactly am I a "Never Trumper" if I voted for Trump in 2016 & 2020, and merely tell the truth that "the Emperor has No Clothes" for saying Trump fncked it after the election and won't win if he runs again?  Let's see how 2024 plays out.  Bet You that I am right.

The Idolatry displayed by some of you is sad sad & sad...  He's just a shady businessman with a string of failures, who ran against such an unpopular candidate in Hillary Clinton that he got the undecided middle to vote "What the Hell - I'll vote for anybody except Hillary so Why Not Trump" and won office.

Personally as a so called "Never Trumper" (Who actually VOTED for him twice) I didn't approve of his life. He cheated on his 1st wife, then dumped her & married his mistress.  Then cheated on new wife #2 and dumped her and married his mistress again for 3rd "wife".  Then Cheated on 3rd wife (while she was having his baby) with a washed up hag of a Porn Star & some ex playboy bunny for the $$$. -  Frankly - NOT the kind of person I'd want around my family.  A man who cheats on his family isn't a man in my book.

But you go ahead worship whomever you want.

With Complete & Total Respect.

A "survey" (by whom?) of "Republican Voters" (already a biased sample) doesn't mean that former President Trump can win in a GENERAL Election.

Trump could very well get the Nomination but still doom the Republican ticket.  See Bob Dole, John McCain & Mitt Romney ... Won Nominations - Lost Elections

Trump lost in 2020 in large part because he galvanized a huge swell of "Not Trump" voters - like him or loath him - there isn't much middle ground or undecided when it comes to Donald Trump.

Trump was going to cruise to victory in 2020 based on a hot economy (The Democrats were moaning after their convention they didn't have a prayer to beat him and that people who didn't like him would still vote for him because of the great economy), until COVID hit and "Things Changed"...

I sincerely hope & pray that a Republican (whomever) wins in 2024 to keep the SCOTUS seats & nominations for Judges that were the success of Trumps tenure.

You - calling ME an "Anti-Gun & Open Borders RINO" is pretty damn funny.    LOL!!  I guess you don't pay much attention eh?

Look - I don't suck Trumps Dick - If that is anyone's thing y'all go ahead.

I consider Trump not as a "Mango Messiah" that some of you do, but just a Politician who blew his wide lead in a race that was his to win.

Then threw an epic meltdown that ensure he won't / can't be a successful candidate if he runs again in 2024.

"Realism" seems to be in very short supply here on ARFCOM, but as I see it, THAT is indeed the "Reality" of it.

If Trump Runs again in 2024, I'm worried we will end up with a Democratic President. If that happens, So Long SCOTUS & Judicial System.

And THAT will be a disaster for our Guns & Borders.

I'd vote for Trump in 2024 if I had no other choice, (I'd chose Death before voting Democratic) but let's hope it doesn't come to that.

We need a real conservative, a new one, that runs with the Trump policy model, but isn't Trump.

An unreal amount of women can't get past the TDS thingy.

The lack of women's support prevented a Trump landslide.

Trump needs to be a side-lined cheerleader of the candidate.

What Christie doesn't realize is that the GOP has no platform right now outside of Trump. Almost none of the party's pre-Trump positions have any popular support. There's also no one competent that can lead a return to the pre-Trump Republican party. And all of the Republican politicians opposing Trump are either out of office, or hiding away as incumbents in deep-red states. Even those people are only making the most tepid swings at Trump now.

Just look at recent events. The most powerful Republican in the senate (Mitch McConnell) and one of the most powerful house representatives (Liz Cheney) called Trump and his supporters insurrectionists and terrorists and enemies of democracy. Now Cheney has lost her chair position and is going to get primaried, while McConnell is basically hiding and pretending that Trump doesn't exist. Trump endorsed one of his own guys for the GA senate and McConnell is just sort of impotent. We just watched Biden botch the Afghanistan pullout, it was the best chance since 2001 for the neoconservative old guard in the GOP to reassert themselves and bring back a bit of Bush-era jingoism, but all they could do was complain about refugees and "interpreters". The GOP has no alternative to Trump, or even to Biden they just sort of sit there and moan.

Yeah Trump sustained Republican party approval ratings in the 90s, he had Bush post-9/11 approval among Republicans without there being a 9/11 moment for him, and yet there are "Republican Trump voters" on this site that have done nothing but bitch about him since he announced his run. They're either not Republicans or didn't vote.

I'd vote for Trump in 2024 if I had no other choice, (I'd chose Death before voting Democratic) but let's hope it doesn't come to that.

and before the "Trump 4 Ever" Fan Boi's all scream "Never Trumper" to ignore truth & reality (again) ...

I voted for Trump in 2016 & again in 2020 the elections.

That doesn't mean you're not a never-trumper, it makes you a hypocrite.

So another in a long string of squishy middle, go along to get along, anti gun, pro open borders, pro endless war RINO then?
Pence/Rubio?
Maybe we should throw Ol Rmoney back in the ring.
Or is it finally jeb!'s turn?
At least these are all Godly men who will live a moral life while throwing the nation under the bus and kowtowing to the godless communists and globalists.

Trump may be a blustery, narcissistic cringefest who couldn't keep his dick in his pants but he seemed to genuinely give a flying fuck about this nation. Moreso then any POTUS I have seen in my adult life.

Unless your name is Christie, Bush, McCain, Romney etc then no, I did not call you an anti gun RINO.

If an "establishment conservative" wins in 24 then we will still have a disaster for guns, borders etc. With maybe a redux of some multi decade long pointless war (like Graham has been suggesting to anybody who will give him a mic)

Both Bushes were pro AWB as was McCain and Romney.
Both Bushes were pro open borders, as were McCain and Romney.
Yes, more of that is exactly what we need [sarcasm]

I would rather face a self proclaimed enemy then someone who talks and acts like my friend, stabbing me in the back at every turn.

The Republicans were so OUT of power in the Eight years of two full terms of the Obama Presidency that their old positions (Opposing Gun Control, tighten border control, address balance of trade issues) were somehow seen as "new" for Trump.

I'd bet you a P-Mag that Liz Cheney still retains her house seat.  All Politics are "local" and she has a strong family support locally there.

Trump "endorsed one of his own guys in GA" (Who lost) and then there was the whole Fiasco of Trump & Team saying "Boycott the GA Senate Elections!!"  and then flip flopping at the last minutes to say, "No - change of plans - now instead of Boycotting the Elections we'd like you to go vote" ...  Too little & too late!

If McConnell is not driving forward new legislation (impotent you say), that's because the Republicans managed to lose BOTH Georgia Senate seats due to bungling campaigns & the "Don't Vote - Do Vote" flip flop...   The Democrats stayed on message, stayed on the throttle the whole time & were focused.   Republicans in Georgia were anything but.  If a party loses the Senate, then Senate Minority leader can do little but block & delay.  Mitch McConnell has been the Gun Owners Best Friend in Congress.

2022 Midterms will be interesting & we'll see if the tea leaves have any reading for 2024 ...

The Left(er) wing of the D Party is pissed that Slow Joe can't seem to get anything through the Senate (Thanks to Mitch McConnell - whom so many "Nobody But Trumpers" seem to really hate) like the bloated Infrastructure bill, much less those Left Wing projects like "Universal Healthcare", "Reparations" (for "some people") or Gun Control (thank God!).

Will Republicans have alternatives?  Guess we'll have to see how it all plays out.

You ARE aware that "Our Friend" Donald Trump publicly stated his desire for "Assault Weapons Bans" prior to running for President.  In his 2000 book "The America We Deserve," the president said he supports a ban on assault weapons.

"I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun," Mr. Trump wrote at the time.

You ARE aware that "Our Friend", Donald Trump, while President, publicly endorsed at press conferences his support of Red Flag Laws ?  "Trump urged lawmakers to "make sure that those judged to pose a grave risk to public safety do not have access to firearms and that if they do those firearms can be taken through rapid due process."

President Trump calls for red flag gun law, mirroring New York State's newest gun legislation

And I hope you are aware that "Our Friend", Donald Trump, while President, pushed through BATFE the Bump Stock Confiscation policy that has now opened a broad avenue for attack on anything that the Biden Administration deems "Naughty" such as "Braced Pistols" or "Forward Resetting Trigger groups"?

Please excuse me if I don't feel I should really "trust" Donald Trump to 'watch my 6' when it comes to my Gun Rights.

This is not true at all. The only new thing I heard Trump talk about was the crime wave of illegal invaders and his intention to secure the border one way or another. For decades both parties avidly supported wide open borders and the murders, rapes, pedophilia, thefts, etc., committed by illegals were NEVER mentioned. Trump caught massive blowback for daring to broach the topic. That's the only 'new,' thing I heard from Trump.

This is getting tiresome. I live in GA and I never heard so much as a peep or a whisper about not voting in the election or in the runoff. Rather, EVERY SINGLE DAY my mailbox was awash with Republican pleas to vote for Perdue and Loeffler. Millions of trees died to support the FLOOD of GOP appeals to myself and others. It started early and didn't let up until after the runoff.

Stacey Abrams is the culprit. She had drop boxes installed all over GA and made it against the rules to verify signatures. That's where the votes for the Democrat senatorial candidates came from. If you lived here you'd know that.

This, open borders, sending jobs overseas, "immigrants are more American then Americans" Dems are well meaning but foolish people, of the Reagan/Bush era is dead, may it burn in hell.

I have been called worst by far better people. Hell the father of a girl I dated told me to go to hell, and he was a Minister.

Trump`s biggest mistake (aside from ever listening to his SIL and Daughter) was ever trusting these parasites and giving them any power or backing.

The old guard has no base left, no following, no message. What is the selling point of "Send your kids to die in the Middle East, import the refugees, open the borders send your job to China, have your new job taken away by H1b visa hires, have BLM run wild in your area, and we can not defend your rights because that just isnt our job as elected people" we tried that and people are never going back. Shaprio, Goldberg, Rubin, Frum, Jeb!, etc can whine and act like the fair weather fools we know them to be. But it is not going to help them.

Some people will damn God merely because they are pricks.

Things are not going back to the way they were pre-Trump. A lot of voters discovered that it was possible to break free of the establishment GOP stranglehold and elect a DC outsider. They liked that option and won't willingly return to the establishment monopoly.

Establishment MO: work the primaries such that party hacks like McCain and Romney win, and then taunt the base: 'What are you going to do?--vote Democrat?'

Then the establishment honchos such as Bush and Rove laugh themselves sick. They didn't care if McCain and Romney lost. They were equally happy with Democrat establishment hacks.

Trump gave us the only real choice we've had in my lifetime. He's not perfect but people who harp on that are missing the point. The GOP base and conservatives in general were simply fed up with the DC corruption and gamesmanship. (They had selected !Yeb! as our next crap sandwich.) We got a taste of breaking free of the corrupt old Uniparty hacks. Going back to the establishment plantation is not an option.

Just want to point out that the Republicans controlled the House for obamas last 6 years (and Trumps first 2). You don't remember them giving obama all the money he wanted? POS schumer bragging about how well they did?

And Trump also campaigned for the POS romney, so we are stuck with that POS again as well.

He has no set principles.

Hung out with bloomberg and the rest of the scum, and donated to many of them. Had his NY pistol permit, but never cared about anyone else. Most of his swag was all made overseas. Didn't make sure all his businesses didn't hire illegals.

Whoever ran his campaign was a genius-playing up the 2nd Amendment even hooked me, and a 2nd Amendment Coalition too? And the locking hillary up was icing on the cake. For supposedly being such a great businessman, I really thought he would come in and clean house.

I'm sure someone will tell me all the excuses of him getting bad advice/listening to the wrong people/didn't know how big "The Swamp" was/etc...

In the end, he wasn't all that much different than many other Republicans-more spending and some gun control. We did get some great Tweets though, so we'll always have those (and probably the Bumpstock ban as well, soon to be followed by other bans he led the way on).
