That guy is unbelievably talented!
Sick at home, and the Discovery channel has been playing Overhaulin' pretty much non stop. |
|
Here's the one that made me think he's a really cool guy.

Edit: This is the real reason I think he's a cool/humble guy...the end of the episode.

Very talented indeed. However, I would be pissed as hell if I had an all original '67 Mustang that needed some cosmetic work and he bastardized it into a customized museum showpiece who's only connection to a real mustang is the name.
ETA: Let me clarify. I really like his work and he is a tremendous talent. However, I have seen him on Overhauled do some pretty weird stuff that completely ruined the original vehicle as far as value goes. The only value it had after he was done was that it was a Chip Foose custom. |

Foose seems like a good guy though. |

He always asks the person in on the overhaul what the owner would want. There have been a few that wanted a closer to stock vehicle and got it. One was an early bronco and it came out great.
I think Chip is very talented!! I have also heard that over time many of the overhauled vehicles have issues. But seeing the shape most of them start out in I doubt the owners would know how to keep them in top shape? |

All I know is that cum-rag Boyd Coddington hates him. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Boyd is dead man...has been for a while. His head finally explode when Chip Foose name was mentioned? He just died...
Fuck, he was good too. He just was no Foose... |

I love watching this show every chance I get. Not only for the cars, but for the teamwork involved. I don't know how much editing is done and who's decision it is, but you never see any negative comments, blow outs, etc on OverHaulin'. It is the only custom show involving a group of people and a business that can hold their heads high with regards to this and they should be extremely proud.
As for some of the designs, yes everyone's taste is different and you can't please all the people all the time. However, OverHaulin' has produced some extremely clean and seemingly stock vehicles as well. I searched quickly for the episode involving the Nomad(?) convertible station wagon, but could not find it. The "mark", an elderly gentleman wearing a cowboy hat, commented that Chip reached into the memories of the "mark's" childhood to make the wagon better than new. It was a moving reveal for me much as Chip's reveal at SEMA. I truly believe the Chip Foose the editors allow us to see is the real Chip Foose in that I believe he is genuine in every sense of the word. He and his family should be very proud of the way they have touched people's lives in such a positive way. I have not met him, nor do I ever expect to, but if I had opportunity to I don't know if I would. I certainly wouldn't be able to tell him anything that he hasn't already heard. ETA: I'm glad to have used my 223 post on this topic |
