In the 70's and 80's very very funny, today no. I think the last movie he was in was Hot tub time machine and that was really just a Cameo.

I disagree with his politics, but his early movies were quite fun to watch. Spies Like Us, Fletch, Caddyshack, and Vacation are the kinds of movies that can be watched repeatedly. Anyone who doesn't laugh during Vacation is NOT human.
