This is the first time I've posted a pic here, so I hope it works. If it does, I'll edit this & give some details. Here goes.... Ok, I had to try it about 4 times before I got it right (it's still huge, but hey - this is my first pic. I started this thread on Thursay - http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?id=66159 about Emily's Sheltie collie dying. Thanks to all who responded. Anyways - we got her this registered Border Collie last night. I think she's happy again!!!! Edited to add: AR15-gal posted the pic for me a few posts down - keep looking....

Thanks UN1846 - she was absolutely heartbroken - hysterical. It really does a daddy good to see her smiling again. God I love that girl. The wife just called and told me "You've got a lot of nerve taking off for work and leaving me home with this puppy today." I said "What do you mean??" [0:)] Knowing full well what she was talking about. BC pups are mischievous as hell!!!!! Well, let's just say the puppy seems to be healthy, and is enjoying learning her new surroundings. LIFE IS GOOD!

My friend's Border Collie is one of the nicest dogs I've ever met. Brown and white.

My next dog's going to be a Siberian Husky.
Link Posted: 11/3/2001 5:08:52 AM EDT
News flash from home. She likes honey-roasted peanuts!! She took the container off of the night stand by my bed, opened the lid and scattered them across the bed, the floor, uh-oh phones's ringing again.... [:D]

I still can't see the pic, and I desperately WANT to see it. Webshots says that the page no longer exists. hmmmmm Anyway, I have a border collie and she is ALL THAT AND A BOX OF POPCORN!!! Border collies are very intelligent. I actually think mine can read my mind, and she definitely understands every word I say. Congrats on the new pup. You're going to love it! [:D]

I had a Border Collie when I was younger - he was one of the smartest dogs I've ever seen. Always thought Siberian Huskies looked cool though......

I think Border Collies might be the most intelligent dog. Saw it on some list before.

Here's a quote from CBC News page: "The dog at the bottom of the intelligence list of 79 breeds is the Afghan hound, which Coren kindly describes as an "aristocrat," probably aware that many aristocrats are as stupid as a box of hammers. The most intelligent dog is the border collie, a name that comes from the border between Scotland and England. Border collies are so intelligent that they actually make poor pets, unable to tolerate being locked up in a condo 23 hours of the day with no one to play chess with."

Thanks for the email. The pup is precious! And so is your daughter. What a happy smile! So, what is the puppy's name?
Link Posted: 11/3/2001 5:34:49 AM EDT
Well, it's kind of embarassing 'cause I don't have the spelling down yet! There's a Gaelic(sp) name that's pronounced Serin, but I have to check the spelling to finish up her paperwork. We've added an "a" to the end of it so we're calling her "Serina". I'm so happy I'm actually teary right now. (Anyways, it might be spelled Sarina, or Sirina or...) She's already retrieving a ball - not just once either. Every time..... She's gonna be great!! Man I love BC's - they are HANDFULS when they're puppies though. Ask Mrs. A3kid.....

Now, Serina looks like she might be well on her way to being Emily's best friend already. That's just seems to be the way things are with puppies and little girls. Eric The(KindaLikeADivinePlan,Sorta)Hun[>]:)]

Border Collies are great dogs, and considered the smartest breed. They tend to be a bit hyper though, so a large yard is desireable. If you live on a farm, a small herd of sheep for her to round up would be good.
Link Posted: 11/5/2001 7:33:24 AM EDT
We've got a really large yard with plenty of room for her to run. We live back a long lane too, plenty of distance between the house and the road. She was driving me crazy over the weekend until I figured out what was going on. I'd take her outside to feed & water her, and wait for her to relieve herself. She wouldn't, and then as soon as I took her back inside she'd squat right away. WTF???? Eventually it occured to me - she was used to going on newspapers!!! Put papers in the front yard - PRESTO!!

Well, the females anyways!!! BTW - Seren is Welsh for "Star", so I guess I know how to spell her name now. "Serena" it is. [^]
