I just got a 1995 Mercedes E420.  It has balls like no tomorrow, and is really nice.  unfortunately at least one speaker is blown, and it still has the original tape deck.

I want to go with: a good radio that I can play my Ipod through, new speakers, and maybe an amp.  I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I don't want crap, either.  What are the best bang for the buck componants and sources?  What are the hype to avoid tags?

Thanks

add another vote for crutchfield,

I just put a Pioneer 4900 in my vehicle from crutchfield, and it controls the ipod through a cable that circuit city wanted $34 for and Crutchfield was including free, as an incentive to buy.

They were great about including everything that I needed to get the stereo into the car without any trouble.

And the great part, is I placed the order online at 6PM on wednesday evening, and UPS showed the package delivered to my door at 9:54 AM The NEXT DAY.

And that was the free shipping option, of course, I am in VA, and MD isn't far away,, so your shipping may take a little longer.

www.etronics.com/ has some great prices. I have ordered 2 items from them. They arrived undamaged and on time. I'd use them again. I have read negative feedbacks as far as returns with them, but that shouldn't be a problem as long as you know what you want.

Definitely not the best deals out there. Best way is just to go to your local car audio store and listen to what they have and find some you like. Then search the net for the lowest price.

Speaking of stereos, anyone know how to remove a stereo bezel from a 2003 Ford F150 STX?  It has a STX plate above the stereo and it has a hole on each side of the bezel next to the stereo, not two holes like I have found on others on the net.  Would it work the same way to remove it by sticking clothes hanger wire in and pressing inward to release the tabs?

Kind of a hijack, I am sorry, but I have been looking and haven't found a site with a bezel like that one to know.  Aftermarket bezel possibly?  Cannot find one pictured for the STX.

ETA:  Son's truck.

Thank you!
