Getting my wife a new car today.  It will be titled in my name but will be her daily driver.  Do I need to add her to my policy?  Or do I get the insurance in my name?

She doesn't have insurance to transfer over as she's been using a work vehicle up until now.

You need to add her as a driver to your policy.

Yeah, she should be on your policy, it should be joint policy.

Ok, that's what I was thinking.  Got some bad advice and thought I would double check.

Depends... I just received a letter form my Ins. company stating going forward all possible drivers living in your home need to be added to Ins.

Basically if the Ins. company feels they driver should have been added the policy and they weren't they will not cover. This is in FL and YMMV

At same address needs to be on policy.

Permissive use doesn't cover family living with you.

Amfam automatically adds the spouse on the policy, you can not exclude them. In other words it doesn't matter who the policy is under, you or her, both will be covered on each other's car.
I can't answer about other insurance company's policies though, I thought that was standard.

She's not a driver on your policy as is? Most companies will write a household policy

I got a letter from Allstate last week stating the same thing.

She'd be a resident relative so she'd likely be covered, but best to add her as a driver.

She is not.  Haven't really needed her on the policy, or so I thought...

Will check on the household policy.
