I always come here for car advice 'cause you guys are the Sh!t!!
Anyway my car is a 2001 maxima with 70,000 miles. I had just experience my car engine shuddering occasionally as I was driving on the highway, and the check engine light came on.
When I put the car in park the idle speedometer was erratic(moving up and down). Now searching the web first led me to 1) change the pcv valve and 2) clean the IAC Valve. Now the PCV valve still rattles Im not sure if it means its still usable(so Im told). But where is the IAC Valve, and how do I clean it!
If you guys have any other suggestions please post it.
Thanks

Sorry I can't help w/ your specific trouble, but I do have some advice.

Anytime I get a new vehicle, I go to Autozone (or whatever local parts store you have) and pick up a Hanes manual for your specific make/model/year car.

The $20 spent on those books has saved me $1000's over the years.

Take it to autozone and see why the check engine light is on. Also I would take a look at the timing, at 70,000 if its belt or chain it may have slipped/jumped. 2nd the advice to get a manual to assist in troubleshooting etc.

In almost all cars the "Check Engine" dummy light just means a sensor in the emissions system is saying something is wrong.  If the whole car is shuddering, but it smooths out at certain RPM's, try checking your spark plugs and wires in addition to what you have already checked.

Also, if you had to pee really bad and were tapping your foot... maybe you should find a bathroom and try starting your car up again.  If you aren't tapping your foot on the gas pedal it might run smoother.

What is an idle speedometer? Tachometer?

In my experience the majority of check engine lights are related to smog equipment. Typically they do not cause any issues as far as operating the cars. They are attempts by the greenies to make sure you stay compliant. Apparently your case is different since you are havinf stuttering issues. Check plugs, wires and ignition components. Then fuel filter. Those are the easy  things that should be eliminated first. IMO.
