I was just given this Challenge Coin because of a project I've been working on for the last few months and know there is some sort of meaning/custom behind them.

Lots of folklore about how they came to be.
Basically, a challenge coin is used to "challenge" others in a group by producing the coin and knocking or placing it on the table/bar.
Others produce their coin and they do not pay for drinks, whereas he who has no coin or the coin of lowest denomination pays for drinks of the challenger.
If the challenger ends up losing he pays for the drinks for losing the challenge.

Bullshit. You know exactly what it is for or you could have asked when given it.

You just want to show it off.

Haha. I honestly have no idea where this would even rank in the Challenge Coin hierarchy.

They were always good in EOD when we met up with guys from our sister units, flash a coin and see if anyone forgot theirs so they could start off the drinking session.  Of course, it back fires some of the time and you end up buying a round of drinks.

I was about to joke "nah, they're not made here in the US; US challenge coins are made in china."  Then I looked at your location.
No shit.
