Found this as part of an unrelated article today:
But let me just remind you of Admiral Yamamoto's words after the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. He said, "I fear that all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." Many years after the original Pearl Harbor, a survivor of the attack brought his son to the wreckage of the Arizona. The little boy said, "I don't understand it, Daddy. Why did the Japanese attack us like that?" The man set his jaw squarely and said, "I don't know, son. But it was a big mistake."
