Hey, I'm using Cakewalk just to record ideas down before I  forget them but I have a prob. Say i record a guitar on track 1 then use track 2 to record a drum track... Instead of having two unique tracks, track 2 has druma AND guitar blended. How the hell do you get them to record without blending?!? I like to record different variations of an idea on multiple tracks and mute the extras on playback but this blending problem is prohibiting that..
Ayone know the fix?
ps: its not playback being picked up by a mic or anything such. It blends them internally.

Do you properly switch from Record mode to Playback or Monitor mode
for the tracks in question?

yeah. i disarm all tracks but the 1 being recorded. I used to use Cakewalk all the time w/ no problem. I didn't get this blending prob until i had to reinstall it after a HDD replacement.
