Just moved to OK and got cable internet, no TV. Instead of paying the $10/month rental on the modem, can I just buy one on ebay? Will I run into any issues with compatability? Thanks |

as cheap as they are in the stores, I'd just get one from the local BestBuy/C-City/WallyWorld. For a neat little all-in-one, get a Linksys WCG200. It's cheaper than getting a modem, router, AND a wireless access point. This is only if you're making the decision based on dollar amounts, though. If you just want a cable modem, the Motorla Surfboards are <$50 at Walmart. I would still suggest getting a firewall for it. I don't think you should get one off EBay because of the regular EBay caveats: DOA and malfunctions. |
