To start off, put my first CZ75 on layaway black Friday! Went with the CZ75BD for those who would wonder...
My fact question is that during my research and internettin' I kept seeing the statement that the 75 is the most widely used pistol by police and military in the world. Can that be true? Given that every cop I know owns at least 2 glocks and every civilian I know owns 3 or 4 glocks and I can only think of a handful of eastern bloc militaries that issue the 75. Yes, it's found in the shoulder holsters of a lot of Russian and Albanian mafia but does it really outnumber glocks, BHP's, and all other service pistols the world over? |

the US is 4% of the worlds population. just because most LE here use glock doesn't mean the rest of the world does too.
|
|
its been around for 40 years now and still in production, its not hard to beieve there are millions of them around the world. As a com bloc design it had no patent protection and was copied by anyone who wanted to. And well done to OP, its a great pistol, I have 5 CZ's, none will be sold by me.
|
|
Yea, but when you travel Europe, theres an awful lot of Glocks in holsters fellas.

CZ75 fact :
The CZ75 doesn't actually have recoil, the rest of the world/ universe recoils away from the CZ75. . . . . . Another little known fact: Gaston Glock actually married a CZ75, years before the 6 foot tall hot Austrian Massage therapist chic.
|
|
If you ever run out of ammo, the CZ75 can actually feed and fire Glock 19s, or Beretta 92s, as long as the magazine spring is in good condition.

|
Meh. The Browning Hi-Power is the real pistol that marched around the world. Used by both sides during WW2? What?

I tried really hard to like mine. The controls were a bridge too far for my hands.

Damn I wan't one of these but don't know which model I want.
I want it most like my 1911. Where can you put them on layaway? |

If you go overseas to Africa or Central/South America you will either usually see a Browning High Power or CZ75 on the local constables belt.

My LGS in Grand Jct, CO always has several CZs in stock. And they do a kick ass layaway. Bastards.

CZ 75s were the object of desire in the early 80's because they couldn't be had here in the states. GIs in Germany could buy them through the rod and gun clubs, brought them home and sold them for profit. I'm guilty.
As a pistol it's nothing special, IMO. Points well, decent trigger but too heavy. The last one I had I gave to a guy to checker the back strap and he cut through. Traded it for an Eagle upper, IIRC. They're not for me. I'd take a Sig 228, 226, G-19, BHP, or a host of other pistols before a CZ-75. YMMV. |

I took my SIL to the range Friday to shoot my Model 41 and CZ75 BD. He and my daughter have been a number of times and enjoyed it. He has been thinking of getting a Sig but after shooting my CZ he emailed me today that he went with a 75B. I think Friday's session, the price, fit convinced him to go with the CZ. I'm going down Saturday to shoot with him in Birmingham. He's pretty stoked.
My daughter emailed me, "Smooth move, Dad. He wants a $100 range bag for Christmas!" |

Most like a 1911 would be the CZ 40 B . Very similar grip angle/feel but an orphan to find one

I've been looking at the SP-01 tactical but have been hearing that CZs aren't that reliable (read: parts break) any truth to this?

Just about every policeman or security officer in Turkey has a CZ-75 copy on his belt.

I am a 1911 guy all the way. Can't stand a Glock (wrong angle and damn finger grooves are for children hands).
I just recently picked up a CZ 75 B and have to say I am impressed with feel and trigger. Going to take it out for some IDPA style shooting on Monday to see if I like it. If I do, I will have to try and snag a 75 B SA. |
|
Given a choice, I would pick a CZ75 with a NICE trigger, over a Glock. I prefer DA/SA pistols, and even better if you can carry condition 1.
I owned a Compact Sphinx 2000something pistol, an all stainless steel CZ clone made in Switzerland. The slide was black, and the frame stainless. It had a 12 round magazine. I sold it when I was out of work. One of my biggest mistakes EVER. I sure wish i had that pistol NOW. It was expensive; about $850, when CZ's were selling for about half that price. So well made. Trigger was smooth as silk. About a 4lb SA trigger, or a bit less. Like the nicest 1911 you've ever fired. Really a nice pistol. |
