What does the 6 minute range time start? Upon touching a firearm is my guess or is it when the first shot is fired?
View Quote
We've had stop watches specifically for the range the last couple of years. It starts when the first shot is fired.

May I ask why the change in rules? Just to mix it up or is there a story behind it?

Wasn't just you. It was an entire body of fail we had seen up to that point.

Mainly because it’s fun for us.

But honesty with the time restriction we wanted to still give non-conventional shooting a chance this year.

If you’re going to allow a belt-fed, why not encourage a great six-shooter?

Time and opportunity.

If I had the funds and the funds to replace the targets I would do it with an m2

Ive been stocking up on belted 50

I'd be down next year (pending land owner approval) to pay for extra targets just so we could shoot them with an m2

I can make you 50 BMG rated rifle targets. I've got a prototype 50 BMG rated POPQUIZ hostage target that needs to get turned into a dueling tree at some point anyhow. Just haven't had anybody willing to pay what that costs yet

You'll have ample opportunity to play with it!

It's ran great for us.  Loves m855 or any other 556 on lowest gas setting.  Steel case wolf/tula needs max gas and lubing the links with one-shot.  Work well with the forced reset trigger also.  I would totally buy again

I just piled a load of steel out of one crate and thought we were good.

I should've checked the other crate too.

Edit: I’m hearing conflicting reports about a few gas stations being out of gas in Central VA including Appomattox.

Per a local truck driver who delivers fuel, the shortages are not widespread and should not be a problem unless people panic buy again… I assume the gas stations will be refilled today or tomorrow, so I don’t expect a problem.

I plan to fill up at least 30 min away…

Range Info:

Pistol Range:

8 targets. Note 60 yarder in top left corner, that one may be shot from anywhere. For the 25 yard clays, the left clay must be shot from behind the barricade (not pictured; same as last year) on the left, the right clay must be shot from the right, and the middle clay can be shot from either left or right of the barricade. The 4 40 yard round plates must be shot from their respective sides of the barricade.

That left clay looks close to the steel solely because of the camera angle. We ran out of chain and had to get creative with positioning.

Note for new people: the 6 mini-ipscs adjacent to the clays are no shoots. Shooting them is a 5 minute penalty which forfeits the nearest clay. This means that the adjacent clay is considered to be a missed target and thus a single 5 minute penalty.

Rifle Range (sorry its a bit blurry):

Rifle range at east. 8 targets. Yardages are approximate and as follows, nearest to farthest: 1x 150, 2x 175, 2x 225, 3x 350.

New Obstacle Rules:

Peg Board: You must use the pegs to go to the top of the board, placing both pegs in their topmost positions. At that point you must use the pegs to go back down the board, finishing with both pegs in their bottom most positions. You may not use the center column of holes. No legs. You may skip holes as long as the other requirements are met.

Atlas Ball: Starting from any position on the ground, you must pick up the atlas ball and place it on either pedestal, after which you must carry it to and place it upon the remaining pedestal. You must pick it up off of the second pedestal before dropping it.

Rope: No Change

Sled: No change, but it is heavier.

Tunnel w/cube: No change. Cube is slightly heavier but its also a fraction smaller.

Y’all pay attention now. There’s not going to be an explanation at the range.

@Rugby3 or a substitute RO will tell you what’s left if asked. Otherwise you’ll hear pistol or rifle range clear.

Everyone please read (especially those driving cars): There are two diversion swales that have been installed on the road before the house. These were a bit too aggressive, so MaxtheRabbit and I spent about an hour tonight (after our runs) fixing them so that cars can make it over them. When entering the property you will need to stay on the left side of the road for the first swale and then stay on the right side of the road for the second swale.

Our fix should allow cars to pass but these areas still need some work, so anyone (that isn't staff involved in runs or cooking) that is available on Wed/Thurs please come and find me or Surveyor so we can put you to work. With 4 or 5 people it should take 2 hours tops to get these areas straightened out. We'll have some shovels, rakes, and a mattock available but we could probably use an extra shovel or two.  Thanks.
