Ok, just for discussion, why is it that in the first link below, it is a "violation of CoC #6" (causing me to get a warning) after a member insulted and instigated some comments (for which most members in the topic addressed the said member):

That's always going to be trouble, you can't directly attack someone with language like that, even if they've shown themselves to deserve it or be a bigger detriment to the thread than your insult. Learn how to insult through thinly-veiled language like everyone else does, it's the CoC loophole. That way, you can violate the CoC in spirit all day long without violating the letter of the CoC. That's how it's done. There's no rule about photoshopping someone, member or not. Put your pics on the web, and you're fair game. You're welcome. However, if someone made a video or went on the news insulting the site or members here and distributed it then they fall under the category of a "public figure", which grants much more leeway for comments in terms of the slander and libel laws than just being a businessperson or in this case site member. |
