Why is there no "in-between" when it comes to CMMG?  Everyone seems to love or hate them.  General concensus?  A poll would help.

I never dealt with them directly.

I am happy with one of their rifles.  I purchased it last November and the fit an finish is on par with the Colts that I own.

My Colts BTW were all purchased before '90 and are on permanent loan from my Dad.

Rifle:

CMMG Government profile 11.5 SBR

I think that they received some great reviews and became all the rage for a while which overloaded their capacity to produce and meet demand.  They also had lots of options for each purchase that are no longer available.

This is likely due to having to streamline to meet orders.

Over the years Jeff, John and their Father have all been very helpful with my orders.

They were one of the very first to offer 1/7 barrels on the retail market.

CMMG is OK. So there goes the premise you based your initial question on.

I've got one complete CMMG rifle and have built three others on their lowers.

Never had a problem with any of them, they are GTG in my book.

CMMG 16" Middy Chrome Lined A4 upper here... I love it and have had no problems. It loves Wolf and anything else I shoot thru it.

ETA: Excellent fit and finish with my Spikes lower.

i bought an 18 inch upper from them last year, took 3 weeks to get it, it runs great and is a tack driver, their business the past 3 years seems to have really taken off which probably has given them some growing pains.  I would buy from them again.

As far as customer service, no complaints at all.

As far as quality, who the hell knows, but so far, based on a LPK and a BCG that I've bought from them (when I couldn't get them elsewhere during The Crunch), no complaints.

Good barrels. Horrible customer service.
Due to the lies and runaround I got last time, I will never order from them again.

They went out of their way to offer all these custom options, then cancel'ed certain barrels from their lineup after they could not supply the orders.
Then they come out with a single shot blackpowder muzzleloader upper.    WTF

I pretty much hate the company. Anyone who can change their story 3 times in a minute of conversation has some truth telling issues.
My order went from  "Oh, just in stock", to "maybe, in stock" to "6,7,8,9,10,11,12,or more months out and 6-8 weeks ship time" without a bit of remorse.
Becuase this upset me, they threaten to cancel my order.

In the past I have had to remind them several times to place my order. Yes, they forgot to place my order.
This has happened several times.

Its almost like they just dont care. Because they dont.

Until I get a personal apology for the lie-a thon one of them girls gave me, I wont be back. Like I said they dont give a shit and decided to quit making the barrel I wanted anyway.

CMMG can kiss my ass.

I like the .22 conversion bolt I bought from them.  It won't feed or fire Remington Golden worth a shit, but that's not their fault, and it shoots CCI Mini Mag like a dream.  If Walmart ever gets some Federal back on the shelf, I'd like to try that.

I did a build on one of their lowers.  Great finish and no issues.  I'd buy from them again.

I have a 10.5 inch SBR from them, it is my duty rifle.  Runs great, eats everything I put through it and is quite accurate.  CMMG is good stuff!

I doubt anyone will have issues of quality.

Deal with the CS. They will tell you something just to get you off the phone. TO quote them... If they are on the phone, they are wasting time.

There jib is cut low.

This. Mine runs really good with Remington bulk and CCI Mini-mags as well but it chokes up on Winchester bulk packs.

People in Missouri are like that.  They have less patience than New Yorkers.

That said, my CMMG 5.56 barrels have been fine.  I had a problem with a 22LR upper and they took care of it right away.

I have personally had nothing but good experiences with CMMG customer service.

The one thing that some people don't consider is that CMMG is a relatively small company.  They do not have a gigantic manufacturing facility, nor do they have a room full of customer service reps that sit around a answer phones all day.  I'm not saying that as an EXCUSE for them per se, but I think it is important to understand that they are a smaller "boutique" manufacturer, when compared to some of the big players like Bushmaster, Colt, Armalite or DPMS.  So while they should obviously still be professional, they will not always be able to take as much time on the phone as we might be used to with other manufacturers.

However, my experience with them was extremely positive.  One time I was in the middle of Missouri anyway (had to go to U of M in Columbia), and I stopped by their facility if Lafayette to pick up two lowers.  Then we ran into a snag with a paperwork requirement (since I'm not a U.S. citizen).  Instead of telling me to buzz off and come back when I had my shit sorted out, the let me use their computers to try to find the paperwork I needed online, and eventually we figured it out, but it took quite a bit of time, and tied up one of their computers.  Then, of course I got delayed, and instead of just telling me to sit in a corner and wait, Jeff gave me a tour of their facility and drove me around all the new ranges they were building to show them to me. - and when we got back to the main building, the transfer had been approved.

I cannot imagine any other manufacturer giving me that level of service and personal attention - and this wasn't for some big order that would make them tons of money, this was for two stripped lowers.

Maybe you called when I was busy using their computer, and that's why they weren't so helpful.

Personally, my favorite rifles that I own are CMMG, and I have owned Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt, RRA, DPMS, DoubleStar and Model 1.  I think that in terms of value for money and options available, CMMG is the best brand out there.

Asshat, I am not.

I will admit our costumer service at times has not been 100% in past, but we have and continue to improve our costumer service along with reducing wait times and back orders.

We do take our criticisms seriously, it helps us to identify what we need to work on improving.

Have a .22 conversion unit. Works great. Wish it would live eject but otherwise it runs like a freight train. No problems and cheaper than anyone elses' product. They had some killer deals at SHOT and seemed very happy to talk to "the little people" there.......

I bought one of thier M10 uppers and loved it. I went to buy another upper, a lightweight, and I waited about 16 months. When it was finally ready to ship they sent me an email and cancelled my order before I could respond. They basically told me too bad. They were discontinuing the lightweights and I firmly beleive they were just trying to cancel as many orders as possible. I think they make a good product but they will never get another dime from me.

ordered a upper and was told it would be 4-6 wks due to back log.

Called around 10 wks later and was told they were running a little behind, would be another 2-3 wks.

Waited a month (4 wks or more) and called.  Was told would be another 2-3 wks.

Again, waited called, and was told it would be another 2-3 weeks.  Canceled the CMMG order, made one phone call and had a similar LMT product on my door 4 business days later.

My only complaint is that my trigger finger wouldnt stop twitching the year it took to get my upper for my SBR, but they let me know promptly that it would be a while, especially since i had some custom stuff thrown on, but I didnt think it'd take a year!  But i'm happy now!

You guys make kick ass barrels. I own two currently and could only be happier if you made more 20"A1 barrels. I beg of you, please, make more but make the next batch with standard feed ramps and sight bases.

You guys are awesome and I did have to wait a few weeks once about 5 years ago for an M4 barrel. I never bitched, I waited patiently and the reward was great.

I don't need my ass kissed and my shoes shined. I'd rather have you guys making stuff instead of catering to someone's ego on the phone.

Please, make us some A1 barrels. I regret selling the one I had.

Have a CMMG upper and a .22 conversion. Both run quite well.

I bought an 11.5" 1-7 chrome lined barrel from them for my SBR after having problems with other barrels. The barrel had proof of bore being very concentric, important for my silencer, and I have yet to have a single problem with the rifle since I put that barrel in it.

I got one of there 22lr Conversions after having problem after problem after problem with my Ceiner conversion.  The CMMG one works great!

I recommend them to people all the time.

I was very satisfied with my experience and their .22 conversion mags function flawlessly.
