I left service 7 years ago, but have a question for those still in uniform: are they finally awarding the '2nd' award for CIB for current combat operations for those who had it previously? Even though I was in combat several times from 88-98, I only received one 'award' due to it being 'post Vietnam service'. Something about the regs that:
WWII is one era
Korea was another era (and soldiers who had it from WWII received a star)
Vietnam - current (?) was another era
So, when I served, even if our CSM served as a Private back in Vietnam lets say in 1969, and then, as CSM of our unit in Panama back in 89, even he didnt receive his "Star" above the CIB.
Anyway, was just wondering if the current CIB's are still considered within the Vietnam Era of the award and if anyone is getting the silver star above the Kentucky Rifle to denote a second award.
