So I've been trying to burn some CDs...

I have repeatedly made coasters.  The CDs get write errors at about 32% or 60%.  I have used 3 different progams and diferent files.  The CDs are brand new.  and other people have used these cds succesfully.

I've made about 6 coaster now and am starting to get annoyed.  I't a laptop with a CD/DVD burner/reader.  I've successfully burned DVDs inbetween unsuccessful cd burns.

Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong and how to fix it?

I'm just getting a little frustrated here

DVD's burn and CD's don't, correct?

Find out the model number of the drive, go to Google, enter it with "DVD Burn CD Coaster %insert drive model number here%"

What software are you using?
What brand latop?
What brand of DVD's worked, what brand(s) of CD's didn't?

How about something to work with?

Are you trying to burn at maximum write speed? if so try turning it down, that helped mine, but it eventually died.

From the pics, I'd be happy my computer was working at all.

What brand latop? Fujitsu Lifebook
What brand of DVD's worked, what brand(s) of CD's didn't? I don't know the DVD brand... It's  all white so I can write good lables on it.  the cds were memorex and tdk and are CD-R

the dvd drive is a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-840S

normal write speed is 24x... the cds say 52x on them...

I've tried at 16x... failed

and am trying 12x now... success

WTF why is it doing this?

Im not sure WHY it does that, maybe crappy writer or crappy ink on the media or a combo of both? My old Lite-on drive is the one that had trouble, but my newer NEC doesnt have any problems burning DVDs or CDs at max speed, even with the same media.

I had constant errors like that once, and it turned out the drive was toast.  That said, why it would work fine with DVDs is beyond me.
