KOMU News, in Columbia, MO, has a morning daily e-poll. Several legislators have commented how, even though this is not scientific, they review the poll results to get a feel of public opinion. This morning the poll question is
"Do you believe Missourians should be allowed to carry concealed weapons?"

The anti's have already jumped on this. Please help by going to www.komu.com and click on the e-poll link to vote.

Mods- could you tack this up until tomorrow morning?

I voted unclestu.

I've fwd'ed the info to a Second Amendment Coalition of MO volunteer.

You know, if the NRA hadn't gotten involved in our business - - the CCW issue in MO would not have been put up on a ballot issue that lead to that disasterous statewide vote.

We should never put out rights up to a vote.

Now we face an uphill battle every year.

We REALLY need CCW to pass in Missouri! I am a LEO and I think CCW is a great thing!

Done. 95% yes. Hope this gets passed. As a former Missourian, some of the things that go on back there embarass me. CCW passing would certainly help me regain my pride. Will be taking my AZ CCW class this weekend, and I hope that if MO passes CCW, they get a reciprocity agreement with AZ, so I can LEGALLY pack when I visit the family.

Either 3000 people voted no in the last hour or the results were rigged by the media outlet that wants to report on this.

Someone local should call a competing TV station and report that their competitors are running rigged polls.

Okay...this is messed up. How can in an hours time 3000 people vote..and most if not all of them would have to vote NO. The percentage chagned from 101% to 100% also.

I think something is messed up here....could KOMU be changing the pole to reflect some soccor mom who runs the web page?

It took almost the first 8 hours for 1000 people to vote. The poll shows that 3000 people voted have voted in less than 1 hour!

Could someone who knows more about computers answer this: Could it be possible for one person to vote several times? I was only able to vote once. How hard would it be to do this? Could this have been done in an hours time to change the results so much?

looks like something interesting happened between 3:17 and 4:07.
if you have access to the computer, you can make it say whatever you want. it's not letting me vote again, not that i would ever consider cheating. we've done our part, now it's up to the others.

I voted this morning, when it was 95% yes with 1152 votes. I just voted again from another computer behind the same proxy server. I'm guessing that if you clear out your cookies, of find the individual cookie, you can vote as many times as you please.

Bingo.

When running a web poll, there can be no checking...or a cookie can be placed to prevent the majority from voting more than once. It is also possible to run a database to log each and every IP which is more secure on getting real numbers for the vote, but that would lock out potential voters behind a proxy. So most polls use the cookie feature.

I'd say that if you cleared your cookies or even opened up a different brand of browser (IE, Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, etc.) they all store their cookies in their own file, so it is possible for either side to cheat on the poll.

Go vote now!

You can vote many times if you clean up the cookies.

If you are using Internet Explorer,
pull down Tools > Internet Options > Settings > View Files

This will give you access to the folder where cookies are dumped. To delete,
pull down Edit > Select All, then delete the selected files.

If you only delete the KOMU cookie, the poll will not let you vote again - there is at least one other cookie it tracks, and I don't know which one it is, so just delete all of them (it won't hurt your computer).

We are just holding at 63% for, 37% against.
