i am wanting to replace the 16" heavy barrell on my bushy with the Superlight 16in Barrel Assembly.

Any reason i shouldn't? Mostly moderate blasting, some rapid fire. Not into high accuracy as long as it hold minute of dumbass at 100 yrds.

by the time i get that done and have it threaded , new preban sight base installed it will cost about the same. i can order the barrell and do it myself cheaper.

That might be a littler far for her to travel tho she is originally from that area. Maybe she'll just settle for letting CMP pick her's out.

Mike, I would call up the nice people at Bushmasters and ask to see what they recommend. Those people working on their 800 number should know, or they can put you in contact with someone who would.

Just curious, are you thinking about using this rifle as bugout rifle, or planning to hump it a long ways?

Ain't bugging out and i don't hump long distance anymore. Mostly home defense and plinking. and possibly some 3-gun in the future.

I have the 16" ulw bushy.

I love it. Fortunately, it shoots even better than minute of dumbass.

It does get hot after doing a 4 x 30rd mag dump though.

But it is the shiznit!

I have a SL upper on my old Bushmaster lower, mainly b/c I cant hump a heavy rifle. Having said that, and knowing what I know now, I shuld have bought one years ago. Teh SL shoots 2" groups at 100 yds with my old eyes and issue sights, weighs less than a Carbon 15, and holds POI even when the oil is smoking off the barrel from the heat. The only downside, as mentioned above, is that it does 'het up' in a hurry.

It's great for 3 gun or other tactical shooting due to its balance, wich is almost centered on the mag well, unlike the front-heavy HBARs. If you plan on 3 gun where you may be using volume fire, it may be worthwhile to install M4 handguards for the double heat shields. I ran a 3 day long carbine course with mine, and not even ONE hiccup that was not operator induced. I think that you will really like it.

handguards aren't a big problem. i am using a free floated tube wrapped in para cord.
