Hey all!  I saw a magic trick today at the kane co. gun show in Illinois today.

You can turn a $900 Bushy AR-15 into a $1595 AR-15 by just putting a ridiculously high price tag on it!  does that make anyone else SICK?!

I asked the guy if it was a special edition and he said "no, I don't think so..."  ha!

Oh yeah.... I have two Yugo underfolders on back order and the way things are going I could make like $1500 profit on one of them if someone was panicky enough... wtf...

ETA: Though I'd be too ashamed to ever ask such an absurd sum for a weapon like that... (I'd sure accept it as a highest bid though... lmao)

Do you guys think the overpriced ammo situation is going to settle?  I mean...I was lucky to find 1100 rounds of all brass / non corrosive for $330 at a local store (RGuns - Carpentersville) but other than that it seems like complete robbery.  Obviously the demand is taller than the trump tower and the supply is plentiful like wins for the Lions...but cmon.

And I can't believe that obama's number 1 goal is going to be ban assault weapons and tax the bullets when he has an economy that is only begun to show how bad it truly is and a war that can't be labelled victorious.  The AWB can't (at least I hope) be his number 1 focus.

i went to the local fun show just to poke around.

DAMN! $1200 DPMS, $1700 Colt and lots of chi-com add on junk that was higher than the real stuff.

saw a gen 1 Glock for $535, WTF?

the fun part was that you could drive two miles from the show to a gun store that is selling stuff at regular prices. after the epic FAIL of the show the gun store was hit hard.

It is the law of static supply and increased demand. I fail to see why anyone is surprised. If you think the price outrageous-don't buy it. Under the present circumstances, someone else will.

Saw a dealer at the Wanenmacher Show in Tulsa change a price tag on a used AR Essential Arms parts gun from $695 to $1695. Yep, added a 1 in front.

I haven't been to a gun show in years...they are nothing but chicom rip off's and stupid items. There dealers here in Michigan are Pathetic..TAPCO products on non tier rifles, etc....The internet and a good FFL is all you need. Most of the locals are the same in their shops as they are on their tables...

They can ask all they want as far as high prices go..I hope they get what they want.

They just won't get it from me.

No, but I am getting sick of people complaining about high prices. We still live in a free Country (for now) and individuals can try to sell property they own for whatever price they like. You do not have to buy it.

If I have a Stripped lower that I think is worth $10,000, I can try to sell it for that. You don't get a say in what I charge. Deal with it.

A firearm isn't worth any specific price.  I don't see Bushmasters permanently labeled with a value.  No one is gouging prices people, stop crying about it(really, it's getting old).  Fair market value is dictated by supply and demand.  Right now demand is very high.  Nobody is getting screwed here.  The price will probably continue to rise so you might still turn a profit on a 1,500 dollar Bushmaster.  I've got a novel idea!  If you think it isn't worth 1,500 dollars, DON'T BUY IT!

A couple years back I saw a regular Bushmaster carbine that the dealer had slapped a new stock on, a heavy barrel and a couple other accessories, and called it a "Squad Support Weapon" ... he was asking over $2k for it. It wasn't full auto, it wasn't anything special. It had a stock on it that I haven't seen since and that was it, the rest was just moderate quality, readily accessible stuff.

I asked the dealer what the deuce he was selling and he launched into this speech about how it was a "squad support weapon" and all this crap.

I walked away.

I don't understand how in the know gun owners didn't see this coming and act accordingly. I don't feel so bad about my gun purchasing marathon a few years back, I am under no pressure to purchase more.

I only wish I would have had the forsight to stock up on ammo. That's what people should be stocking up on anyway - ammo. Obama and his ilk won't be going after guns, it wouldn't look good. But they can still achomplish their goal by fucking with every other aspect of gun ownership and shooting. And self defense.

I have quite a bit of ammo. But if I had stocked up on cheap wolf and 5.56 I could at least be selling it at a fair price and still making a nice profit.

I predict the reloading industry will be hit with new laws and regs. There aren't so many reloaders as to make such a public fuss about it. That way they can regulate the current ammo supply. If I were a reloader I would be seriously stocking up on supplies. I mean seriously.

I find most folks complaining were the ones who did not prepare or don't have the cash or even worse both.

Like the posters above stated, if you don't like the price don't buy it.

It is that simple.  I want to pay 10k for a 10 acre mansion fully furnished.  But the guy that owns it wants me to pay 2.5 million.

I guess he is "gouging" me.

Someone explain just what I've accomplished?

 In the same boat.

I ran through 100+ rounds of some old Guatamalan M193 last weekend and cringed every time I pulled the trigger.

I do police my brass now...and I don't even reload.

If I needed a new AR right now, I would be very happy that dealers had adjusted their prices to the demand, and that there were still a few rifles left to be had on the shelves. If prices hadn't gone up in the face of increased demand, there would be no rifles to be had and we would be in a rifle shortage. Plus the increase in market price give manufacturers  incentive to build more rifles faster, which will increase supply and bring the price back down.

Why do you think that people should sell their wares for less than market price? It makes no sense.
