Gotta agree with Steyr- this is crap.  Having a Babe of the day thread is no different than having an adult channel on your cable- if grandma doesn't want to see it, she has the choice to not click on the thread.  Same with dad and his 9-year-old son.  I can see banning hard-core porn, but come on.

Once again, everyone suffers 'cause the folks in charge don't want ANYONE to get offended.  Political correctness has reared its ugly head at AR15.com.  One troll posts some ugly stuff, and all of a sudden we all have to pay.  No different than 'zero-tolerance' policies in schools.  Easier for teachers and school administrators to whack everyone and say 'we had no choice, zero tolerance, you know' than to do their damn jobs and make some decisions on a case-by-case basis.

What happened to Steyr's apology?  It had about 10 posts in there and poof...  all gone but one reply.  Ahh, Anti deleted all posts.    So nice of him.  "This should have been kept between him and I"  Great reason for deleting posts.  Btw, I thought posts were never deleted.  Hmmm.

Things are really getting out of hand.

It always kills me how everyone gets so hot and bothered about personal liberty when it comes to gun ownership, but then get all limp wristed about other personal freedoms.

'Yes' I realize this is a private board and the owner(s) can do whatever they want with it, I have no problems with that and if people don't like it they can vote with their feet (figuratively speaking).

If someone can't handle looking at a scantily clad woman, hey don't click on the fukn thread! Real simple.

This is just the sort of PC ("it's for the children!") crap that everyone here rails against on a daily basis. If you have a problem with specific threads or posters, deal with those threads and posters not some blanket restriction that totally changes the character of the board.

I think Steyr probably jumped the gun a little bit and went overboard with deleting stuff, but was anyone paying attention that the Babe of the Day thread had well over 100,000 views? How many of those were complaining?

Get outraged at the people posting truly obscene stuff (I didn't see any of it, but I can imagine), get their IP (if you're an admin), spend some time and money finding out who they are (could even be pro bono if you have some moderately dedicated legal help on the board),and start aggresively going after them.

I'd love to see someone go to court to defend scat images as not being obscene in their municipality.

I like the general discussion area because of its free wheeling nature, I think everyone does a good job of self-policing without resorting to ridiculous 'zero tolerance' policies.

But what do I know, I'm just an Observer.

Oh, I'm sure Anti has his reasons for wanting that discussion kept out of view.  It's not like the issue has anything to do with the rest of us.

How is what is being done any different than this? Even if they deal "with specific threads or posters," those they would still be operating under a "blanket" rule.

Impossible to define.

As usual, the people who are so pro-"turn the channel" can offer no alternative.

what about the owner's "freedom" to do whatever the hell he wants with his board?

I regularly freqent this site with my son who is 14. The only time I ever had a problem was with the scatman crap that came up in a post with no warning,( thanks frank!). The babe of the day and other posts that gave at least a hint of what they are about were never a problem for us. I would hate to see more censorship come into play because of one guys bad judgement.
