Bulgarian magazines are excellent.  For the record NO military AK mags are bad.  IMO, the best magazines out there are the Hungarian 20 rounders, because you can use a rest easier, and the ammo is generally 20 rounds to a box anyway.

DO NOT BUY USA MAGS while military ones are so cheap an available.  Don't be duped by capacity.  Being suckered into that is a newbie type mistake.

Bulgy waffles are great! For $10.00 a pop too. East German steel for $8.00 are good but take more maintenance. As they rust if you don't watch it. Romanian 40 rounders are good. In fact, I've never had a problem with any of my AK mags. I've got Bugly, Romy, E. Ger., Norinco, Polytech, Russian. They all work great and most of them are cheap to purchase. Stick with the proven mags.

They have a waffle pattern on the body, instead of the usual vertical ribs.

I don't have any waffle mags but my libby friend told me that I have a quite impressive stack of "banana clips"!
